New York City Agency Performance Reports About CPR: "Agency Performance Reporting is part of New York City's comprehensive Citywide Performance Reporting (CPR) tool. It represents a collection of critical performance measures from more than 40 City agencies in an easy-to-use online snapshot format. By using this tool you can search for measures of the services you are interested in, review statistics summarizing how well government is performing in different areas, analyze long-term trends, and review specific agencies' outcome measures."

Hmm... Gotta go check this out. I'm sorta nosy that way and get a kick out of trying to figure out what they've been up to lately. They being the government. There are so many things that affect the housing market. You'd be surprised how integrated the numbers really are when you look at the whole picture of an area. Of course, this is just a little tip of the digital iceberg, but info is info... Besides, I can't make fun of stuff later unless I find the quirky bump in the road that makes a topic interesting. :-)

The NYC Mayor's Office of Operations has this neat little graphical user interface area where they let you select certain agencies from a drop down table to check out their agency performance reports. It's a nice way to come across as a neighborhood expert (e.g. spitting out stats - LOL).

The website has these four bullets I found interesting (so of course I had to test out the system):

  • "Graphical representation of agency performance, including pie charts and color-coding to make positive or negative performance trends obvious."
  • "Drill-down capability, allowing users to review comparative trends over a five year period."
  • "Aggregation of important measures into citywide themes which cut across agency silos and disciplines to reveal the overall picture about city government performance."
  • "Detailed information about each measure, including an explanation of what the measure means, its reporting frequency and other useful details."

Useful details, eh? BTW, those four bullets are an exact quote. Don't want to get it wrong since they put it so nicely. Being a visual person, of course I went oOOOOOooOOOOooOOOOOoooo lets look at the details(LOL).

Want to know what I learned today? 290 indicators have a status of performance improving or stable. 122 indicators were suffering from a performance decline. 19 indicators were either new or had data that was unavailable. 51 indicators were neutral and labeled "no desired direction."

No desired direction? What does that mean? How can you not have a desired direction? Are we not the government? (LOL) Oh the things I could say here but wont (LMAO). Yes, its true, I am thinking really silly stuff because we are in a recession and i just can't imagine not having a desired direction (LOL). So go ahead, quote the government. That's why they publish this stuff

Actually, NYC.gov  is a very useful and cool site. Just sayin'... ;-)

There's nothing wrong with being nosy, of course, then you come across a phrase like no desired direction and it all hits the fan.

Candice, my thoughts on this have such a wide spectrum of sarcasm I don't know where to start (LOL). That phrase just fascinates me (LOL). You can go so many places with it (LMAO). Seriously! ;-)
