Are you the leader in your marketplace? If so, go on to the next blog post, this probably won’t help you. But if you’re not #1 in your market, there are some simple points that can help you get there. Market leaders aren’t born; they’re grown, and they grow by being planted in the right soil and by absorbing the ingredients for abundant growth. Market leaders don’t follow the crowd; they lead, and sometimes into uncharted territory.
Market leaders:
• Understand that life is always difficult for those who only see the difficulties.
• Have written, measureable goals.
• Maintain regular contact with their customers.
• Anticipate their customer’s needs.
• Are obsessed with customer satisfaction.
• Realize that they don’t have all the good ideas, and seek the counsel of others.
• Are knowledgeable and anticipate market changes.
• Are in control of their ego at all times.
• Can get their point across without becoming argumentative.
• Are always aware of what the competition is doing.
• Do not complain about market conditions, but look for new venues for success.
• Understand that it is not failures that bring defeat, but the unwillingness to take risks.
Above all, market leaders are unwilling to accept defeat. Filled with confidence—not arrogance— they are certain in their determination to succeed.
