Recently I posted a blog about a rather awkward location for a "door"  in a home we recently Staged in Oxnard, CA Mandalay Beach.  The Owner had aptly dubbed the home, "the house of doors" and she hit the nail on the head.

The following is a series of pictures ALL from the SAME ROOM - which happens to be the first room & first impression of the home ~ The ENTRY!  Count 'em with me: and a 1, and a 2, and........yes, there are 10 doors/entrances into this ONE room.

Platinum Home Staging  #1 - Coat Closet

#2 - FRONT DOOR to home

#3 - One of two entrances to garage

  #4 - Another closet

#5 - Second entrance to tandem garage

Platinum Home Staging

  #6 - Storage closet

#7 - Sliding door to a tiny court yard

#8 - Yet another storage closet

       But wait, we're not done!

Platinum Home Staging

#9 - Hallway to the Guest Bedrooms

Yes, a Fireplace to boot

#10 - Stairs leading to the 2nd floor

WHEW!

You certainly can't say that this house doesn't have enough storage!

Connie ... Thanks for this post about home staging, and it's interesting what you can do for a home with an awkward door entry situation.

Ah, that's a lot of dang doors and hallways.  Yikes.  Perfect reason to stage!

That is definitely a bizarre number of doors.  Wonder what the builder was thinking?  You made it look nice though.

What was the builder thinking when he planned all those doors?  That's just crazy but also an opportunity for some staging magic to draw attention to other areas.  I like the color of the round ceramic piece in the niche above the fireplace -- looks good with the tiles.

Another example of "Just Because You Can, Doesn't Mean You Should" ...be a builder.  The MLS description probably says 'generous storage space'.

This is why good stagers earn their fees.

The owner must have owned a door store.   How confusing for a kid, or adult for that matter.

Connie,

That was bizarre. Did anybody actually buy this place? Tough sell.

Imagine how much worse it would look if the walls were painted a dark color and all the doors really popped out?  That is one big awkward space.  I think the builder had a door fetish!

Howdy All, yes, LOTS of doors! Can you imagine?! Because of the traffic flow we couldn't put large furniture into this space either and the smaller chairs by the fireplace almost blocked the stairs and hallway to the bedrooms... very odd

However, the Stage this space we placed the entry table with the yellow flowers just as you enter the front door, sort of "stopping" you as you enter. You can't see it in the after picture, but there were plants, candles & pictures on both of the counter spaces, leading the eye AWAY from all of the doors, focusing the attention on the fireplace and down the hall to the bedrooms.  (FINGERS CROSSED!)

What a strange space! I love how you put the table in the center - it gives it a feeling of purpose, instead of just being a place for doors to open into. Good work!

Hi Connie,

Wow!  It looks like this was a very challenging home to stage and yet you used your expertise to make the space feel quite comfortable.

I sure would hate to hear the doors slamming around that house! :o)

Hi Connie, I've never seen so many doors all within eye view, you sure had a challenging job of keeping them from being so noticeable. The entire fireplace staging you did looks very inviting!

All I could picture is my kids running thru the house playing hide and seek and slamming all the doors.

That house would have driven me crazy
