Callanwolde

Callanwolde, the magnificent Tudor-style mansion, was built in 1920 as the home of Charles Howard Candler, eldest son of Coca-Cola founder Asa G. Candler. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Callanwolde is now one of the most unique art centers in the country
The name Callanwolde, which translates "Candler Woods, " originated from "Callan Castle, " the ancestral home in Ireland. Designed by Henry Hornbostel, who also designed Emory University, the entire 27,000 square feet mansion is centered about a large courtyard.
Especially designed for and built into the mansion, the music system at Callanwolde is one of its most unique features. The heart of this system is the magnificent 3,752 pipe Aeolian organ. The largest of its kind in playable condition, its outlets extend from the tone room to every major room in the house.

The Callanwolde estate is located in the Druid Hills section of Atlanta, an area planned by the firm of Frederick Law Olmstead, who designed Central Park in New York. Of the original 27 acres, approximately 12 remain. The sculptured lawns and formal garden have been restored and are maintained by the DeKalb County Parks Department, the DeKalb Federation of Garden Clubs and the Redbud District, Garden Clubs of Georgia, Inc
