In addition, a contractor will generally not be available that day to come out and make the fix for you -- it may take a week or longer. The same is true for your home's heating and cooling system, foundation, exterior and other typical trouble points.
Routine maintenance costs money, but small repairs are always going to be less expensive than emergency repair or outright replacement.
