Ahhh the business of life.  Especially now that school is about to begin.  It can get crazy some days can't it?

Moms and dads are on the run with jobs and sports and kid's practices.

Volunteers have tons of contacts to make and lots of organization to keep up with.

In the world of real estate, we find ourselves often on the run...

Phone calls are coming in left and right.
We have lots of calls to return.
This person wants information about these houses.
That person wants to put an offer in on that certain house.

Then your husband or wife calls and wants you to run by the grocery store on the way home...if you're gonna make it home before 8 tonight...

Some days you don't even get all your phone calls returned because you run out of day before you get everything done.

It can be difficult to keep up.

My broker gave me one the best tips I've ever picked up in the world of real estate.  Ready?  Here it is...

My Bob Haywood organizer

This is the Office Depot college ruled Composition Book.  All it is, really is a bound together blank notebook, but man is it a lifesaver!

Once I started using the notebook, I went from having post it notes all over my desk to having everything in one compact, complete place.

Now, each day, I open my book to the next blank page, write the date at the top and start taking notes as phone calls roll in or as I talk with people.  And the best part is that I have an ongoing record of conversations and what happened when and what I need to do.  This notebook has single handedly helped me to better organize my life and my business.

Now, you may think it can be done better on a computer...and I would agree...at least for some of us.  But for me, I don't always have access to my computer.  And I can't get all the notes into the Blackberry fast enough.  But I can whip out my notebook and start writing...even if I have to pull over while I'm driving down the road.  Then I've got the information and I'm good to go.

Important dates and appointments get transferred to my computer and phone calendars, of course.  But my notes stay right where they're handy.  And now I've got a record - an ongoing record of what I've done each day.  It's kind of fun to look back over the last year to remember all the great folks I've worked with and the things I do during a day.

So if you find yourself scattered and needing a way to keep up with all the details of life, get to your favorite store today and pick up a notebook of some sort and start writing!  You'll be glad you did!

Bob, that is / was good advice!  Keep everything in one place.  I use a planner and write everything daily in it.  Then I just have to go  back to the days and check off the items that are completed.  It helps me stay organized!
