My lovely daughter Elizabeth, having gradumacated from Occupational Therapy School (yes, that's the technical terminology for it... not "Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy, from the University of Illinois Chicago Campus" ... - whew that's just a mouthful)... nope... Occupational Therapy School!

She has been offered, and has accepted a position at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

What does this mean?   Well...

1) it means she may soon be off the payroll of May, Inc.  (note, I say "May").

2) it means she'll be gainfully employed, and she can take her momma and dadster our to dinner at Carnivale, and she can pick up the tab

3) it means she'll be able to begin paying off her student loans

The position pays more than I made in all of the 1990's, and offers 170 vacation days, a couple dozen sick days, every paid holiday known to man (and woman), and a few more personal days, just for luck.  Why I think after all is said and done, she'll actually only have to show up to work on for two or three days a year, and every other Friday to pick up her paycheck ...

Oh... what am I sayin'... she's have the paycheck direct deposited.

Woo Hoo... I couldn't be more prouder.... or is that proudest...  uh.... prouderest...yeah, that's it.

My son got such a job last year as director of finance of a University.  I swooned at the number of paid vacation and holidays, sick days, that he has!  It's the equivilent of about 3 months a year he doesn't have to work, not counting weekends!  Like you, I am so proud of him.  And so happy for him and his little family. You got me thinking, I just haven't had him treat me to dinner often enough....
