11 Comments on 6 Hidden Issues Which Can Stop You From Successfully Moving From Here...to There.
Lola,
Nice presentation! There is a time to talk and a time to be quiet...having said that, withholding information tends to make a person selfish rather than selfless...!!! Thanks, Fran
Fran, you make a good point about being prudent. There is a time when it is necessary to discern and hold your tongue. However, I think when our motivation is fear or avoidance, the negative intention creates poor results. Thanks for stopping by this evening. :)
Lola,
Keeping secrets means living in fear. It never turns out well. I appreciate the way you write. Your content is always "to the point" and usually encouraging. Keep it up!

Thank you for dropping in to read and comment this evening Mike. Fear is one of the primary motivators behind keeping toxic secrets.
Your post brings to mind an old Navy officer I worked for who told me information was power - he was not a nice guy. I learned that leading is not a power trip.
Lola, I need to get this book and appreciate that you are taking it part and sharing it. The topic of withholdng information, can sometimes take place when you work as a team, as well. Odd that we often counsel sellers to "disclose, disclose, disclose..." yet we shortchange our colleagues in keeping them informed
The opposite can be true, when too much information is used to obsfucate or confuse people - I see that and can fall prey to that as a sales technique.
Finally, I would add that withholding praise or the opportunity to connect with another person (staying in our own head and problems) also can be an issue. It is so easy to look someone in the high and offer them a compliment on a job well done.
Gary, this is a powerful statement: "I learned that leading is not a power trip." The most effective leading is done by example and through serving in my opinion. When one considers leadership in that light, it looses the false luster which serves only to enhance an ego trip. Thanks for providing good insight in this discussion.
Janice, Excellent points! It is ironic that in a profession that places such a high premium on consumer disclosure, we sometimes err in our own communication with other professionals. It's so easy to think that it doesn't really make a difference if we respond to a request for feedback on a showing, but it does. It's about courtesy and communication.
I hadn't considered the opposite which would be giving out too much information with the intention of confusing or blurring the issue. That's also a misuse of information.
Sounds like a great book. I like how your've adapted the message to real estate. Your post is very true and establishes a great mindset.
Lola, you are an excellent writer and you always have something to write! I enjoyed reading this post and agree whole heartedly.
Anything that is kept "in the dark" ie secrets will come to the light. It's only a question of when.
