Speechless Sunday.........Contemplation

I know that I totally defeat the purpose of Speechless Sunday but I always have something to say.  This was taken at MOMA (The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art) and while I plan to do a post one day of some of the treasures to be found there, to me this was a stand alone picture.

This has to be one of the reasons I love Art so much.  No matter who created it or why, it is individual to each of us.  I have often found myself sitting for an hour wondering what it was intended to be, what the artist had in mine...or even what the artist intended us to see-if anything.

While originally thinking to take a picture with just the Artwork, this was much more fascinating to me

I love MOMA in New York City.  You can spend an hour or a day there...It gives pause for Contemplation.

Hi Carole !

This is a neat article as I think too many people pass over the opportunity for contemplation because they are just 'too busy' with their life !!!

I love Moma and used to go a lot when I lived in the city :o)

Cheers !

Sheldon

Carole: I would love to go to MOMA with you someday. I would love to learn more about modern art, having spent more than two decades of director of PR at Winterthur, my art education is woefuly lacking. What resonates with me in your post, is that when you become invovled with a work of art (or at least for me), I do wonder what the artist was thinking or feeling. It amazes me to look at landscapes done by artists for the past. To drive by that spot today and see if I can see what they did. Many times it's changed so much, I am just grateful they captured "the way it was."

Other times, I have this feeling I want to step into piece of art, to become part of its world - perhaps its the colors or subject or composition.

It is a great reminder of how important art can be in our lives - ever so much richer.

What a neat place that looks to be! :)

That red must be so healing too! And energizing! At the same time . . .

Never been to MOMA but I have seen you post about it before and have heard remarks from others - must be an incredible place!  I love this article - it reminds me to take the time and pause every now and then!

What an interesting piece of art.  I often wonder ... what does the color represent to the artist, the shape?  Is there a message in the piece?  What was happening in the artist's life at the time?  Art museums are a great place for soul searching, introspection and life reflection.  All inspired by other people's visions.  Thanks for sharing this one!  And I don't care if your Speechless Sunday is not so speechless.  :))

Carole

There is something in the representation in the color to me. I am trying to look at the Zen aspect of the artwork. Something like this would have me consumed for a half a day.

Sheldon, Certain pieces of art make me stop and want to stare at them...think about what the artist was creating and what they wanted the viewer to see.  MOMA is a favorite of mine.

Janice, The artwork in MOMA is diversified...and SO unique. I have lots of photos from a visit that I will post soon.  I too love art in all it's forms and some of it just facinates me.  And I love reading about some of the old masters of impressionism. That keeps me entralled!

Carol, It's one of my favorites because you get spend as long as you want there...even if it's a "quick" trip you get to see everything.  And it's so OPEN, I love the outdoor feeling.

It is a great piece Carole; actually we think you created a new piece; by capturing that person sitting in front of it!

Pat, It's such a peaceful place...and contemplation is always a good thing.

Fred, I love art...and can stare at some pieces for hours myself.  MOMA is a special place.

Al & Peggy, While waiting for them to leave, we snapped a picture...I like this one better then the one with just the painting.

I have been to MOMA twice. As a child and young person I went to the Museum of Fine are and Contemporary Art Museum in Houston. I love art, it sooths the soul and helps contemplation and inspiration to create more art. Nice photo!

We always choose one museum to visit, whatever city we go to, (usually an art museum), and MoMA won on the NYC trip!  We spent half a day, and could have spent a week.  Some rooms afforded the opportunity to contemplate, others were packed with people parading past, quickly, to get to the next work of art! I think your choice of photos was excellent,Carole,  as looking at the red rectangle, without being in it's presence would not allow much contemplation! =o)

Morning Carole, from my perspective I love the silhouette in you photo, it gives it added dimension. As an art lover I completely understand how you can spend hours in the museum :)

I did visit you daughter's website and was wowed by her art!!! Talent sure does run in your family.
