National Association of Realtors

I don't know... I think I am a pretty fair person.... But sometimes I tend to be a little harsh...so I thought I would put it out there... is it just me or is REALTOR.COM one of the worst web sites in the world?

I was paying for the whole office to have our enhanced listings... 2 years we did this... and then suddenly they just cut us off... no question of do you want to renew... or a bye bye note... just quit.  Then the phone calls begin going from agent to agent in the office... do you want to buy this enhancement package... we are all confused by this as we think we are enhanced... so I check and sure enough no we have been shut down... with absolutely no notice or email or anything.

SO today I finally have some time to look at Realtor.com and see what this all means and should we pay the big bucks to go back on....I was astonished at how cumbersome and slow and advertised to the hilt this web site is... they are not promoting our listings...even the paid enhancement are not promoted.. they are promoting net flicks, credit report people, movers, google ads, bing, bankruptcy people and on and on.... I guess I see why I only got a few inquiries from the actual realtor.com system... they couldn't find listings in there they had to search a different way...

Have you been to Realtor.com lately? Tell me how do you like it? I don't like it at all right now...and I would like to hear your opinions... Is Realtor.com really for the Realtor?

I would agree it does seem like many other things are given as much or more attention.  It seems like a cumbersome way of finding properties.  As an investor I don't see myself coming to this site to look for properties.

I haven't been on..but honestly, I only heard negative things about Realtors who advertise.  Maybe count it as a blessing that you didn't pay another year (unless you felt you were getting results)..

Good luck to you! Keep up posted.

I agree with you.  The advertisements are getting out of hand.  I never signed on for any enhancements as I thought it was just a waste of money.

When you did have enhancements, were you getting a return on your investment?

Debra, I've also been questioning whether Realtor.com is worth it lately.  I have only gotten one good lead from there in the past year.  I wish they would automate the seller's reports.  It is very time-consuming to manually send each seller reports in a timely fashion.  I have actually had more success with Craigslist, Trulia and Zillow, for much less money per month.  Thanks for posting this.  I'll be watching the responses for a little guidance/validation myself.  :)

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!  They were my first website experience back in the late 90's.  I actually had a few leads from them but then as they grew service went down and price went up.  We are fortunate to have a wonderful association public site so I don't mess with them.

I did just recently learn to choose my first 4 pictures wisely as that is what they will show.

Debra - Yes I think it's a terrible web site! I think that consumers need to be very careful of quite a few other Real Estate networks also, no names because I will be posting a blog next week about them!

I am sure glad I'm not the only one that voices my opinion around here, there are so many members around here that have no spine and sorry I'm so blunt!

Debra, I don't understand how it is the #1 portal for consumer home search as I don't think it is very user friendly.  I have tried to search myself as a consumer and it is very hard to refine a search.  Our local association has a great site for both consumers and realtors in Houston, TX.  Take a look at www.har.com sometime.

Hi, Debra - I tried it once - it was a complete waste of money. Now that they have changed the pricing structure, the volume I work makes it completely not cost effective. I've found that working on my own website optimization is a much better use of time.

Thank you everyone! I am so happy to hear you all feel the same.... lot of money no results and the average consumer cant use it....doesnt some of our dues money support this complete lack of space...?  I do not see how it can be the number one web site for our industry... In 2 years I got 2 emails... I think they just give up and google the area they want and find us that way... I have had more results from getting my web site and blog action from active rain in 30 days then I did in 2 years from realtor.notcom! THANKS TO YOU ALL!!!!

I haven't heard anything good about Realtor.com from Realtors, but I do continually hear from my home inspection Clients that they did a lot of searching on Realtor.com. Now as to whether or not they found the home I was inspecting on Realtor.com, I don't know.

No, it's NOT just you. . . and YES it is the worse!  I never recommed that my buyers use the site.  There are too many others, including our company's, that do a better job.

As agents and brokers we may hate it, but it seems a lot of the public think it is the only way to search.  So what can we do?

It is rather crazy - we pay our dues and what do we get?

Kind of like joining the local Chamber of Commerce.  Not a bad group but only interested in promoting tourism and they've never seen a sales tax they didn't like.  Now I've started getting emails from the National chamber and it is all about political issues I'm diametrically opposed to.
