FRED: Thanks for stopping by. During the late 19th century, colorful houses were known and called
"gingerbread" and replaced the original family tents which had surrounded the Trinity Park Tabernacle built in 1879 as the open-sided chapel tabernacle.

"Oak Bluffs' famous "Camp Meeting Grounds," is a 34-acre circle with more than 300 multicolored, elaborately trimmed carpenter's Gothic cottages, that look very much the way it might have more than a hundred years ago.

MATT: Oaks Bluffs is a great place to visit if you have never been. Coming up on August 19 is their annual "Illumination Night." All the cottages have hanging Chinese and Japanese lanterns. Absolutely beautiful.

These adorable cottages are rented by arrangement with individual owners of these cottages, not by the MVCMA. Descriptions are supplied by the cottage owners, not by the "Martha's Vineyard Camp meeting Association", Oak Bluffs, MA.

DARCY and TONY: They are cute and well maintained. I did some research and could not find any for sale they are on leased land and the camppground association has strict rules for sellers and especially for tenants, There were were several rentals ranging from $1200per week and up and stating that it would accommodate 6 and some 10  Looking at the photos  the rooms look less than 12x12 I would say not having done any measurement they probably range from the 2bed and up fro 750sf to 1200sf

CARON: They are very close but I find when you are vacationing for a short time your short term neighbors are very cordial and friendly. They will share their candy canes with you.

MYRL:  I agree I could spend a few weeks there, too. It is in walking distance to the beach within 10 minutes, The blog I did for speechless Sunday shows how close water is as you leave this campground, what yoy see is the pier where the yachts dock and there are many shops and cafes.

Very lovely and Disney-ish, don't you think? I enjoy the Victorians, and people's interpretations, especially with the paint colors.

IRENE: You will enjoy your vacation at Oak Bluffs, Martha vineyard. These cottages sleep 6 and some 10. for $1850 and up per week during July and August less in June and September. You get some friends and family to share, it will be quite reasonable for this once in a lifetime experience of staying in a Gingerbread cottage,

Hi Kathleen, That is quite a campground. The cottage is very friendly and inviting looking with the colorful flowers, they seem to be saying... "Come on in, rock on the porch while sipping a glass of lemonade."

Kathleen, I love these little cottages. The pink one reminds me of a place in Vermont we used to go to when we were little, it was a little pink house that sold dolls.  I always thought it was a magical place. :)

How totally adorable!  I can see my husband's reaction now:

Me: Honey, I love this house and I want to live here.
Him:  Uh, no.
Me:  But this house is adorable!
Him:  Uh, no.

I'm pretty sure that hubby would win! LOL  I honestly can't imagine him agreeing to live in a house that looks like something in a child's fairy tale story.  And that house really does look like something I'd see in a picture!  It is absolutely adorable.

MARIA:  Those carpenters are definitely fine craftsmen and craftswomen that know how to use a jigsaw. The details are spectacular especially up close. I am sure the Campground Association must have had their say as to the colors that the house would be painted and I am glad they made them so colorful and bright.

we have a little shop like that here that was an old turn of the century home that has been converted to a commercial property due to the fact that it is on a busy street.  It is now a tatoo parlor, which is the oddest business to be in such a cute little house.
