4 Comments on New Changes Proposed for the Busiest Intersection in Cary
Hi Tracy, didn't know these facts about this intersection. I don't know what they can do about it without disturbing long time businesses. I don't belieive traffic circles would help. The volume of traffic would be too great for a circle to People were trying to get from the inner lane and go straigth across!).
Thanks for the update. If they could fix Crossroads too that would be a big improvement.
Tracy - I didn't know about the trouble there either as I'm on the other end of Cary Parkway. Will have to think about this one. I'm not a big proponent of traffic circles (as in Bedford for example). Especially when there's as much traffic as projected this corner will see. Will be watching what the town comes up too.
Tracy: Don't see how traffic circles will be that helpful but traffic problems like this are all over the country and I don't think anyone has yet to come up with the best remedy. Back to carpooling I guess, wish I was smart enough to figure it out, then I could be buying real estate rather than selling it. :-)
They could start by fixing the light times. In May, I got a red light ticket turning west onto High House from Cary Parkway because the left only signal is exactly 5 cars in time, leaving 10+ cars to sit there and stew for a light cycle. The light is: left only, yellow, red for 0.7 seconds, then green - you could theoretically turn left if there were no incoming cars - but when is that going to happen? I've noticed headed west on High House, same way - the time allotted for cars to smoothly go through is obscenely slow.
The only slowdown I can see in the traffic occurs for cars turning NW on Cary Parkway, who then turn right into the shopping centers, and I suppose similarly for eastbound on High House, turning into the banks/Jersey Mike's. So, my two cents would be fix the light cycles!
