Today I had the pleasure of attending a well-run open house & tour held at the Mount Joy, PA campus of the Lancaster Career & Technology Center. The event was a memorable morning with lots of information on the process being used to build the LCCTC's "Building Green" home where the open house was held.

Visitors were greeted by Kim Patrick, Doug Lyons and Mike Dodson of the LCCTC as well as Jeannie Sikora & Bob Fuller of the NAHBRC. The event was well-attended with the local paper and even Lancaster's own Channel 8 reporting on site. I wanted to thank the vendors and hosts for taking the time to chat with me about the technologies being used to create Lancaster's first stick-built all "green" home. Here are the vendors who were sharing their expertise:
Bob Murphy - Huber Engineered Woods - Suppliers of the roofing and flooring in the home.
Michael Stark - Stark Environmental - Is designing a customer water recovery system (see below for a pic of the 1,800 gallon tanks to be installed).
Mike Bare - Eagle Building Solutions - provided the Boman Kemp egress window for the basement.
Tom Reilly - Construction Supply Centers - supplied the ICF foundation for the home. See my article on Tom here.
Erin Barker - Simpson Strong-Tie Company - had a display of the various ties used in the home.
Karl Hallgren - Pactiv Building Products - provided the exterior Green Guard insulative sheeting.

Russell Graham - WillFlash Building Diagnostic Technologies - supplied a weatherproof window flashing.
Look forward to more updates on the green home project as the summer progresses!
