Your Web Presence Is A Benefit To Your Company

We seem to read many posts about how employers and corporations do not want their associates to freely post on the web but if done right...everyone benefits. Have you ever thought about the fact that your web presence is a benefit to your company?

Take CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty for example...The true advantages that the company has benefited from our associates presence. The truth is the associates make the company...its not the staff..its not the walls..its the associates plain and simple...and for every thought...word and article CENTURY 21 benefits.

We seem to have a strong Internet presence..but if you look very closely...you will see its the associates that make this presence...

By social media...by placing listings in various places...and placing listings on the company site!

All it takes is participation!

Here is an example from Alexa and its important to see. It's clear CENTURY 21 Sundance benefits...with being found...with click thru's because of the online participation..and more than likely additional business for the entire company.

You have to ask yourself this question... What would happen if I walked away and joined another company? I can tell you it would deeply impact the company with search engine optimization and with web presence, there is no doubt in my mind another would benefit!

Fortunately for me....Nancy Dance expects me to train associates to have a strong presence and encourages me to do the same but its up to the associates...to participate and the good thing...many do!

So the next time your broker or manager gives you a hard time for devoting so much time on social media or your own website...point out without their associates...and their online participation their web presence might be null and void and more than likely will affect their bottom line.

Great post Midori - our many hours blogging definitely help us and our brokers!

Excellent points. But we do need to be very careful that we do not allow our right to "free speech" to lead to legal ramifications for ourselves, our brokers, and our company.

Jim-this is what I believe you hire an employee to do a job..maybe they accept money on a business owner's behalf...or maybe they deal directly with a customer...as a broker..you trust those to work under your license and abide by the law...we are all adults...to discourage someone from an online presence just doesn't gel...regardless of free speech..most people know..not all...that if you can't say it in front of people you shouldn't hide behind the keyboard. Its more along the lines of control.

The most successful businesses have an online presence and in many cases all associates participate...you should read about Zappo's all associates must take twitter training...and that is the key...a business owner must make sure their people are trained...online...and face to face. I agree with you as far as legal ramifications.

There are managers, brokers, agents up here that can't spell blog and think that social media is STD..preaching the gospel according to the internet is a whole new thing...what a great opportunity to be a trail blazer,..hmmmm ?

There is no question that a companies visibility increases tremendously when it's agents have SEO knowledge. I am surprised there is not more a focus by many companies in teaching their agents to succeed this way.

I have had a hard time getting any of my agents in on the participation. They just moan about the economy and such. Geez. Get out there!!!
