FIRST TIME HOMEBUYER TAX CREDIT EXTENSION?

By
Real Estate Agent with COLDWELL BANKER RESIDENTIAL BROKERAGE

We have been really pushing the benefits of the First Time Home Buyers $8000 tax credit program for several months now.  Well the end is rapidly approaching - the program is scheduled to close in November.  But what if the program gets extended for another 6-12 months?

This program has given hope and help to many people who never thought they would be able to live the American Dream of home ownership.  Now that they are aware of the program and have started to take advantage of it in greater numbers it seems wrong to close the door.

Those who snooze lose!  I am not so sure there will be an extension.  I am telling buyer not to count on it.  There is just so much the taxpayers are willing to fund...

I doubt that any extension, if there is one, will be announced before the present one expires.  I would advise buyers not to assume that there will be an extension.

Gloria  - There was a big article in the Washington Post this morning about the extension.  It's one of the few stimulus plans that makes a lot of sense to me so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

WOW THAT IS ENCOURAGING NEWS MICHAEL - I haven't seen the article yet but I sure hope it feels as we do.  It seems only fair to grant an extension in light of the false starts the program got in the beginning that took time away from the full term.
