Natural beauty is one this that you will find no shortage of in the Knoxville TN area.  Knoxville TN is located in a valley and is surrounded by mountain rains and contains an abundance of lakes, streams, and creeks.

If you are looking for a great day hike with beautiful sites but don't want to battle tourists at the Great Smoky Mountain National Park try Ijams Nature Center.  Ijams is not only free, but has a variety of hikes which makes it great for beginners and avid hikers alike.

One of my kid's favorite hikes is the Meade's Quarry Hike.  The clear quarry waters allow you to easily view the aquatic life including fish, tadpoles, and if you are lucky even turtles. 

Ijams Nature Center is located in South Knoxville and can be found just 5 minutes from Downtown Knoxville.
