The other day I went to my buyer client's office to have her sign an offer to purchase her new home in Danbury, Connecticut.  We were pretty sure the offer would be accepted.  She was so excited.  Huge grin from ear to ear.  A little bouncy in her step.

She signed the offer, then grabbed me, gave me a big old hug and kissed me.

It was one of the sweetest and most sincere moments I've had in this business.  No words of thanks could have exceeded that emotion.  This is what selling real estate is all about - not just the homes, but the people.

And, yes, her offer was accepted.

Don,

My mom and I get the same reaction sometimes in the mortgage business. Sometimes a client is so happy, they just grab you and give you a hug and a kiss. That is great.

Don:

What a sweet story.  Moments like that make everything worth while.

Amanda - It is a great feeling when they're just so darn happy!

Sandra - Yes, it is these moments that make it all worth while.

Nick - You behave.

Now that is a what I call great client/agent relationship.

Maureen - Do I have to tell you to behave, too?

Ray - Yes, it was a great feeling.  Buying and selling homes is so stressful for people.  It's wonderful when they let their excitement show.

Mana - She and I get along great together.  I'm probably just about as happy for her that we found this home as she is.

Spontaneous Joy from a client and a show of appreciation.  I love those moments, right there in the closing room when it is all done.  A hug beats a handshake

Joe - A hug will always beat a handshake.  And now I know that a kiss beats a hug!  It was really very sweet.

Don, that's what its all about.. if we are as happy as they are, we know we've done a good job.  Not just at our "profession" but at making the connection that will last a LONG time...  this business is about connections, the warm fuzzies, and then of course, later, their desire to refer all their friends and family.  Good job!

Darn!  I forgot about this blog post... I should have memed you yesterday.  I was looking for blogs about kisses.   I thought I searched blogs by "kiss"... I wonder why this did not come up.  You weren't with us in mid December were you... have you been memed? Or have you? Catherine's comment made me read this again.

06/17/2007 02:34 PM by Maureen McCabe - Central Ohio real estate (Real Living HER)

Catherine - The happiness is great.  And things are going smoothly on this transaction, which is always nice.  And the possible future referrals are certainly a bonus.

Maureen - I can't remember if I've been memed or not.  I'd have to go back and look...

I am the one who kissed Don...

By the time we got to signing the offer for the place I really wanted, Don and I had bonded. Through the process we had some good laughs, a few small shared disappointments, a meeting of the minds, even some sharing of our personal selves. While always a crisp professional, one thing always seemed for sure. Don wanted to see me happy! That is how trust was built, and there was no doubt it was sincere. It was the first major purchase I ever made on my own, and Don made the process enjoyable. And with the added support and enthusiam from the rest of his office and really, ALL the parties involved,  I learned a lot, had fun, and understand that there are true professionals in the vaious related fields that work beautifully together to close a deal for the client, abolishing any notion that companies are only out for their own gain.

Don went the extra mile at every turn, I couldn't have been more pleased by how things worked out...and, just look at that face, how could you NOT want to kiss him?

Don 'The Happy Kisser' sounds like one satisfied customer.  Congratulations to all involved in the transaction.

I have never met Don in person and never really thought of him as kissable but you can tell he's a caring person and committed to his clients from his online presence.

OK, Ms. Happy Kisser...People are going to think I paid you for that testimonial!  Yes, she is the one who kissed me.  I think I even earned a second kiss from her, too, after we rented found her a tenant.  It is our new goal to earn a kiss from every client.  Or at least a hug!  My eldest son still asks every day when I get home from showing homes, "Did you get a kiss today?"

Maureen - What do you mean you never thought of me as kissable?
:)

I just love this entry.  Of course I thought of you as huggable!

08/14/2007 01:06 PM by Maureen McCabe - Central Ohio real estate (Real Living HER)

Maureen: A caring person he is for sure, and a lot of fun...I got very lucky to work with Don ... I can't even bring myself to take him off my speed-dial even though the closing was over a month ago!

And Don: You certainly earned all my gratitude and the kudos from your colleagues. So, is your office meeting its new goal for hugs & kisses?

08/14/2007 02:08 PM by Ms. Happy Kisser

I'm on her speed dial!  I'm on her speed dial!

It's the little things in life that make me happy sometimes.  And, yes, we're near our goal for a hug or a kiss for every closing...
