Are All Green Men From Mars?

By

From the beginning of recorded history, man has been fascinated with outer space and it's mysteries.  The incredible Hubble Telescope has opened science to arenas of thought that pummel the mind.  Our curiosity compels us as a people to discover the worlds beyond our own in a quest to answer many questions and two of the biggest are, "is there life on Mars and Are there really little green men?"  I cannot speak as an authority concerning life on Mars but I can attest to seeing a growing number of "little green men."

I am not a big adherent to the whole green movement as it too often gets out of balance.  I am however an adherent of being good stewards of the earth that we have been given.  In other words, use the earth do not abuse the earth......and no....it is not my mother!

There ARE some little things that we can all do however in concert that really does make a difference.

I like being a good steward of the earth, too - however, we do have to be careful that green doesn't become the next "politically correct" movement to stifle freedom.

Edward, to work toward being more efficient and "green" at home and at the office is a great thing.  We can all be more conscious of water usage, power usage and the like.  When the environmentalist overtake good sense, I do have a problem with that... see news about Huron California farms being deprived of water and trees and crops dying and 40% of the population being out of work, because of a little minnow?  That is the utmost ignorance.

Brian, I agree with you.  That is one of the reasons that I am careful with it.  It is a bit of a balancing act that is for sure.

Gail, I saw that about CA....sickening to say the least.  That is not good stewardship, that is insanity!

Edward,  I watched the video clip you posted and especially agree with one of the points.  Turning down the heating system 1 degree to save energy.  I actually turned down my system 2 degrees during the recent hot spell, just trying to do my part.

Dean, I am probably more motivated by saving money than I am in "saving the earth."  A degree or two makes a HUGE difference.  I placed a coded thermostat in my commercial building where the customers had access to the thermosat.  I coded it to not go below 76 degrees.....it cut $100 off of my first months electric bill in the middle of this Texas heat wave.
