True it is easy but there are many that get it wrong.
There is so much to an SEO campaign that time wise DIY is not always a great idea for a busy or lazy agent!
SEO Moz are good guys - I'm a member of theirs. Rand Fishkin is a good guy

I think that there are a lot of people who spend the necessary time and effort to become excellent at SEO, just as there are agents who spend the time and effort to become excellent agents. I have been working on my site for a couple of months now and have learned that as soon as I'm done with what I can do, that I'm going to hand my site off to a pro.

Bob be careful when handing off to a "pro" I'm sure you're very smart but don't get blindsided by the big ads in magazines and trade shows.
If you can find a local person (Mom and Pop is good) then you will not be playing email or telephone ping pong with some company that sold you a hefty $$$s "package" for SEO and do nothing.
I know of someone who thinks java script hyperlinks are cool for search (or doesn't know more than likely) then sells their services for $10,000 a time.....
If you go to SEMPO you may stumble upon someone that is very knowledgeable and reasonably priced in your area.
Whilst anyone can be a Member of SEMPO being so does add some credibility to SEO and SEM businesses.

Tim - What those guy have is an adWords account and pay for you to be top "as you are talking" with whatever phrase you mention they pay $20 and leave your site there long enough enough to snare people into believing them and then take it down - of course once they've got your money you will hear no more ----
I have heard this so much and even got a call once and let them walk me through it 'til I hung up...
SEO and Internet Marketing need not cost $1000's and don't listen to all the bull at trade shows
As I've mentioned it takes time to get to the top - some people get lucky (the ones that have had websites for years) but they "sit pretty" and think they have it wrapped up - very, very soon Google and Yahoo! and MSN will have a major sweep and those "spammier" websites will disappear the smart folks now will win out - long term.

Me? I'm a big believe in Social Marketing right now and have several Real Estate clients doing well even in this iffy financial climate....

I subscribed to such a service a while back, and after paying a hefty amount, the main response from them was to subscribe to active rain and blog....money well spent.
