Next week, I've got the privilege of meeting one-on-one for several hours with a very savvy internet marketer.  In addition to getting boatloads of high-quality website traffic in his extremely competitive niche, he is also a high-level internet consultant who operates on a retainer basis.  The area he shares his expertise on include:

  • getting more website traffic by dominating niches
  • determining the actual value of a lead
  • converting visitors into good leads
  • prospecting "best practices" to turn leads into sales

I've got a list of things I'm going to discuss with him, but I want to squeeze every ounce of knowledge I can out of the time I have with him.  So I was wondering: If you could ask any question of a knowledgeable internet marketing expert about how to get more business from your online marketing efforts -- what single question would you ask?

PS - I plan on sharing the answers I get, so the more questions, the better! Thanks for your participation.

How fast should an agent follow up with an internet-generated lead?  What is the best method used to follow up with internet-generated leads?

What are the best social networking sites to post profiles on for the SEO advantage?  How often should those profiles be updated?

Thanks Clint! A couple of those were on my list, but the other two weren't. I'll add them to the list.

Any other burning questions people want answered?

My question would be "How can I (Or how do you) stay atop and infront of the rapidly changing trends? Or - How can my current internet precense always stay as good or better than it is now?

I would define my target market to him and ask him exactly how he would recommend that I reach them....what combination of tool/sites etc. would he suggest.

Simply: I would ask him, what would be the best possible way to maintain a relationship with prospects  by setting it and forgetting it type system. .I like to know that. .

How do I interface all of the on line applications such as twitter, facebook, AR, etc?  In other words, how can I get my post here to show up on the other mediums?

Hey Joel,

Thanks for the heads up on this opportunity, what a great idea.

I'd like to know what to expect, what will be different on the web one year from now, two years from now....translated, what do I need to be doing today?

I'm with Lynda - my broker told me in 2006 to join Active Rain - I did in 2007 but didn't become active until 2008. What should I be doing now to stay ahead of the curve? What will I wish I had done today a year from now? two years from now?

Is it too late to dominate a niche? What's the sure fire way to dominate a niche in real estate?

Templated website or custom?  What are the benefits?

Also, the best way to convert leads to clients? Systems, calls to action, etc.

Is this like the wishes from the Genie in the bottle?  I'll wish for more wishes!

Can you ask the one thing as being "what other things do I need to know?"

My first question would be to myself and it echoes an old song by The Who. "Who are you"? I think that online marketing flows from that sense of transparency. After that my question to them would be, how do I develop and online marketing plan that integrates into my overall business plan, including my expense sheet.

Hi Joel,  this is a great and thanks for sharing all of this with us.

How about this.  With niche marketing - how important is trademark protection on marketing and tag lines?  I'm not talking about copyright on blogs or photos...but the actual protection on trademark and logos?

Thanks for the questions everyone!  I'm compiling them and will be sure to ask those that are appropriate.

FYI - this guy isn't in the real estate niche, but consults on SEO and conversion issues.

I'll report back soon!

Hi Joel.....Thankyou for opening up the platform on this subject. I have only one burning SEO question to ask.

I have RSS feeds on my website, do web bots and meta crawlers utilize the taglines and keywords from these feeds and if so, is this beneficial to my website?

Thanks again and I look forward to your post!

If you want free info that's good along the lines of internet marketing, check out the video on John Chow dot Com I'm not affiliated with him in any way but his biz model makes good sense. I especially liked his perspective on finding a good email manager and sticking with it. He once lost about 75% of his subscribers when he had to switch - Can-Spam rules required a re-opt in and most didn't.

The video is long and sometimes difficult to catch every word, but worth the watch.

I'm not affiliated with him or anything like that. I just thought the video was good.

Given our market, etc., what should be done in the interim when the foreclosure/ss market is one I do not care to pursue, especially considering I don't consider my particular area to be my ultimate source. Since you and I have spoken several times, I think you might understand what I am wondering....
