There have been some good contests going on in the RAIN- If I were a better writer I would take the time to link to the favorites. The one on childhood home got me to thinking about other memories that we make, not just the brick and mortar kind but relationships with peers and associates.
So this post is was going to be a short (or not) memory lesson on how I earned my first ten thousand. (AR points that is- My first 10,000 other type points is for another book!)
My journey into all things RAIN started here: http://activerain.com/blogsview/47360/lawrence-co-mo back in Feb of 2007- As one can tell from the post, I didn't have a clue what I was getting into. In my defense I enjoy being naive as possible for as long as possible.
It took me almost a year to get around to committing to even putting a toe in the puddle. I read, I commented, I just wasn't ready to commit.
I finally set a few goals and 'put myself' out there. Interesting to note that one of the peers that offered a comment of support would later become a dear mentor and friend.
When I read posts of how 'we' need to get rid of the ones that don't participate, I cringe b/c I know how hard it is to figure out just when and how we fit together. Surely I am not the only one who jumps in and out.
As a Disclaimer- I am a fan of small groups and figured out that to connect with peers you have to bring something to the table. I wanted to form a community in the RAIN that had instant connection and I did what others should do and started a group. Over time, I threw together a couple of more groups that interest me, one on SW Missouri, and one on Quilter/Crafters.
I hit mile-stones alone the way. I made friends, publicly shared personal stories, I learned new things, had fun connecting with live bodies. I entered contests and won a few points along the way. I have never been feature, I have gotten calls from peers, although I have NOT to this day had a 100 comment post. or been hijacked I have totally enjoyed Carolyn's jacking of others!
It should be obvious by now that I have my first 10 under my belt, the next ten are going to take a little commitment but mark me down to complete them by the end of Sept. My new goal is to get to 100,000 so I can be considered for an Ambassador position.
Here is how you as a reader can help- go comment on any of my past posts that interest you and I will work on my schedule to purpose more time in the RAIN. Real Estate is not all about the Buyers and Sellers- It is about how I connect with my buyers and sellers- That connection is made stronger with the help of my peers in the RAIN- cw
Hi Cheryl, cute and imaginative, links to your point highlights. Well done
