As I close out the week, I take a moment to reflect on the successes, the mishaps, the close calls, the ah ha's and the oh no's. I am the first to put my own nose in the corner when I have done wrong; however, I am learning to pat myself on the back when I have behaved well (granted not a frequent occurrence).

I am patting away, matter of fact, I may just congratulate myself.

Arrogant? Maybe. Not my intention.

The current market is difficult. The current way of thinking compounds that difficulty at a higher rate than our growing deficit (I got political, sorry). Six months ago I became Broker-in-Charge of a brand new real estate company, took over a "failing" development, and adopted a 6 week old puppy.

Today the company is thriving, the development is BOOMING, and the puppy is still alive. Not bad. Marine 1 Realty is growing by leaps and bounds. Our commitment and focus not only on our military clients, but ALL of our clients has come back to us ten fold.

Many long hours, many loyal clients, lots of research, and a little risk seems to have paid off. I must say; however, I give most credit to one simple change.

I was determined to FIND 100 WAYS. Find new ways to do everything from emailing, marketing, holding open houses, speaking with prospects and even dog walking!

Real estate has somehow been lost in time. As many other professions move forward with lightening speed many real estate offices operate as if the Flintstones will be walking in any day now. I am not just refering to the latest gadgets, but attitude toward action. Having the most high tech methods will do you no good if your attitude is stuck in the 80's!  Not that there is anything wrong with that, of course.

I just refuse to be a statistic, as long as I can help it. The continual complaining and negativity about the market, the economy, the weather, yada yada... got to be a little much.

In my office we are finding 100 ways to do everything. If it can be done, it can be done better. It is a challenge that gives new energy to an often average routine.

If you are feeling down in the dumps about the market, try finding 100 ways. Find new ways to do everything from Thank You cards to Feedback forms. The energy is contagious! Refuse to do the same thing while wishing for different results!

Excellent post Cherimie.  I find that the agents who don't evolve are still sitting there wishing for the old time Book of listings.  They cannot adapt and will not make it in this market.  Inovation is the key!

Trying new things is important, providing that the new is tracked for results to see how it works.  and NEVER EVER remove the "Cherimie" from the things you do. People want to work with you, not the latest gadget or method you come across.
