The East Mountain neighborhood of Waterbury, CT occupies a small area in the southeastern corner of the city. Anyone traveling to Prospect, or to New Haven, would pass through the East Mountain area via Route 69, also known as Prospect Road, which cuts the East Mountain neighborhood into two parts, with the larger portion of the East Mountain area lying to the west of Route 69.
The East Mountain community in Waterbury, CT is an all residential community, consisting of a collection of colonial, cape, and assorted ranch style houses. There are a few multi-family dwellings located at the foot of the East Mountain area. There are no condominiums anywhere in the East Mountain neighborhood, as the residents of the East Mountain neighborhood have successfully rallied against proposed condo developments in the area. The majority of the homes in the area were built between 1950 and 1970, with some recent additions within the last 20 years.
The East Mountain neighborhood is served by one elementary school, Wendell Cross Elementary School , located at 1255 Hamilton Avenue.
There are three churches located in the East Mountain-Waterbury, CT neighborhood – Living Faith Christian Center, at 69 Prospect Road;
Zion Lutheran Church, located at 1555 Hamilton Avenue; and
Our Lady of Lebanon Roman Catholic Church , located at 8 East Mountain Road , on the corner of Prospect Road and East Mountain Road.
The East Mountain Park is located on East Mountain Road and abuts the East Mountain Golf Course and the East Mountain Reservoir, which used to serve as the area’s water supply before the city purchased a supply from outside of the city.
