Did you think we were on vacation from our St. Jude Fund Raising? Nope! We've already begun meetings for next years events! We need more sponsors and more ideas. We won't get that by taking time off.

We did run into a snag with one vendor and had to wait to get our money back from the vendor before signing the official check to St. Jude. This is why it has taken so long for me to bring the official total to you.

Before I tell you just how much the check was that we sent in to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital from our events, please, take a moment to watch this video by Kayla LoCicero. Kayla is only 19 years old by the way. If this doesn't give you chills, nothing will.

Halls Of St. Jude

The following is what my father and I came up with for our local papers and biker maganzines:  (I asked dad to proof this for me and he added a couple important things)

On June 4th, a small group of golfers and bikers, known as Mickey Jones Bikes & Blues Committee For St. Jude, met at Cancun Lagoon in Daytona Beach . The reason for this meeting was to sign the official check made out to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for the amount of $35,083.87. The bulk of the donations were raised during the weekend of April 14th and 15th from two charity events. The Bikes and Blues with Mickey Jones bike run hosted by the Iron Horse Saloon, and The Mickey Jones Celebrity Golf Classic held at LPGA. The rest of the funds were donations made by supporters of St. Jude.

The committee would like to thank everyone who participated, and is especially indebted to Humanitarian/Actor/Musician, Mickey Jones, for his tireless participation in these two events.  His efforts ensured both events were a huge success.  Mickey and the committee look forward to continuing this important program next year; with even more success.

Anyone wishing to volunteer for our 2008 events may do so by contacting Rock Hartley at 386.566.6991

Joan, We are thrilled! We were going for 50K, so we did pretty good for our 2nd year on these events. Perhaps next year we'll hit that magic number.

Cyndee, thank you so much.. There is nothing I enjoy more then raising money for the kids of St. Jude. I've met two St. Jude survivors this year, one is 4 the other 9, neither expected to live, and both are flourishing. Seeing them active and happy makes it all so worth it. I met the 9 yr old on Friday and talked about it here.

Paula, thanks :) Remember I am not alone in this effort, there are about 20 of us. We have a good group of people that are just following Danny's Dream.

Congrats on your Week in Review feature - well deserved!

Ann, We had two reps here from St. Jude and they were so nice. We enjoyed each other's company and can't wait to do it again next year.
