Elkhart County, Indiana Local Business Owners Are Grateful For Internet Exposure!

I have interviewed 6 local business owners and uploaded information and photos of their business so give them internet exposure!  Boy are they grateful!  Most think at first I am wanting to charge them for this service but I quickly explain about the contest and that I am doing this as a service for them. They love it!

I fully expect The River Inn Lounge and Restaurant in Bristol, The Colonial Pancake House, Karen Sue Mishler with Mary Kay Cosmetics, Jan's Place Restaurant, American Countryside Farmers Market and Gold Key Home Inspections will be experiencing an influx of business.

Barbara, the ones I choose are people with whom I had not met, I haven't gotten around to the places I visit myself.  At first I wanted to meet new people, that I really started getting into it.  I always have my camera with me so I can take photo's on the spur of the moment. Brian, I have always supported local business owners with my own money, I would rather pay a little more because it is going into local pocketbooks, and I found that I made new friends by going somewhere new.  It is a great feeling.  Start up the project again, you will be glad you did.

Russell, wouldn't it have given them more attention by writing about them again?  And pointing the public to their site?  I don 't know if SEO works like that or not, I know just enough to be dangerous!

Harold, I felt like I was very much appreciated.  With unemployment so high here in Elkhart, every nickel or dime can make a difference!  My husband likes to stop and try new places, I am more of going to the same ones time after time.  So this was as good for me as it was for the business.  I am going to keep doing it.  It felt that good!

Joe, you are right, Bob gave us a treat-more points-for doing what we should have been doing in the first place.  He gave a bunch of points as the prise, but we are the winners in the community.  Nice twist on things, don't you think?

I have a favorite restaurant in town, that's only been in business for a year. But their food and service is so amazing that I have blogged about them, posted reviews on Yelp, and then recommended it to so many people to whom I say, "Tell Bala (the chef/owner) that Pacita sent you."

So every time I am there, she prepares extra appetizers and desserts for me and my friends. It feels so good to be appreciated!

Pacita, I know the reason you wrote about them was because YOU were so impressed with them, they get the reward of internet coverage because they are doing a great job.  The appetizers and desserts are your benefit for doing a great job of getting the word out.  Way to go!

Rebecca, you are doing exactly what the local real estate expert should be doing! Unfortunately for me I didn't get it together until the lure of points was offered.  Shame on me...however, here is what I learned...

  • I made some new friends
  • I learned about local business'
  • I am a hero in their eyes
  • I have reaped the benefit of knowing I did something great for someone else
  • I will one day reap the benefit of more business

The more I think about what I did for myself and feeling good about what I did is worth far more than the business it will bring me.  That is the best kind of lesson I can think of...

There are so many small businesses with no internet presence, sometimes due to the age of the owners and/or no internet experience, that I am sure your efforts were appreciated!

Cheryl:  Expecially in this incident.  The restaurant has been there for a long time but when all the local business' (RV related) closed up it drastically affected even restaurants.
