As a small child, one of my earliest memories was having my mother take me to a delightful stage show.  While the production was going on, I could see dancers on stage, and in an area slightly below and in front of the stage, there was the conductor who waved his magical wand in the air, while delightful music seemingly flowed from it.  I was certain the maestro was a sorcerer with the ability to conjure magical sounds - and because he was standing in direction of the stage, and commanding the rhythmic wand, it also seemed that he was invoking the very steps of the dancers.

My mother tried to convince me things were not as I perceived - that there was an orchestra "in the pit."   Imagine what images popped into my 4 year-old head when she spoke those words.  I knew what a pit was, but had no idea what an orchestra might be.  So, about half way through the composition, I bolted from my seat next to the aisle, and ran up to the front railing of the orchestra where the Maestro stood.

I could quickly see there were all sorts of interesting instruments - cellos, violins, flutes, horns, drums, and a piano.  And there sat several dozen beings all dressed in black manipulating bows, strings, sticks, and keys, to truly make music happen - at least until the curtain closed.

As a real estate professional today, I look back and realize that running real estate transactions must sometimes seem like viewing a show through the eyes of a 4 year old.  What may appear to be a maestro, invoking dance, and leading the orchestra with a single wand, is only an illusion, to all the activity going on by others not readily seen in your view.

Carefully conducting the symphony, known as a real estate transaction, takes all sorts of individuals flawlessly playing their part, in order for the composition to be a success.

Choosing a great real estate agent to perform, as conductor of any real estate sale and transaction is key.  Generally, it is your agent, you will have most visibility and contact with, while a multitude of other unseen individuals (lenders, title people, inspectors, etc.), are working more or less behind the scenes.  How well, the agent helps coordinate the other activity will depend on how well your real estate transaction flows.  So it is important to choose your Maestro very wisely!

Hi Myrl  This brought back exciting memories.   I have heard many an orchestra in my day.  My daughter danced with a ballet company,  so it what we did ....attend performances.  There is something exciting and alive about being at a life performance.  It has always amazed me how a conductor could lead all those different instruments ...for a 4 year old it would be magical. Yes it is always nice to fine tune the process of a listing or sales agreement   Thanks for the post

I love your analogy, Myrl. Very insightful.

When I was a kid, I had a huge crush on Leonard Bernstein, you know. LOL.

June - I've attended a number of performances too. . .but not had the impact that first one did.

Trey - Perhaps we should coin a term "sychopated real estate". . .:-)

Toula - It sure beats some other things we are sometimes considered to be:-0

Eizabeth - It's OK if you had a crush on Leonard Bernstein.  I had one on Perry Como...LOL!
