Well, there are plenty of homes on the market today. More inventory than buyers. So, if you're one of those homeowners that's selling you are probably asking yourself....how can I make my home stand out? You've done things that you've seen on tv like decluttering and cleaning but is it enough? Statistics show that staging your property, sells your property. Staging does cost, the rates vary, I've heard some use the rule of thumb of 1% of the sale price. However, I've always come in lower. That said, 1% is a lot CHEAPER than paying the mortgage for a few extra months.

Real Estate Staging Association - Staging Statistics

Vacant Homes       Unstaged and Not Sold           Staged,Listed, & Sold

1/08-12/08                  190 Days on Market                       28 Days on Market

Occupied Homes    Unstaged and Not Sold         Staged,Listed, & Sold

1/08-12/08                     57 Days on Market                        6 Days on Market

Professional Stagers do more than declutter and tidy up. We make your property inviting. Looking at it with buyer's eyes to see what may not be obvious to you. That may entail re-working your floor plan or painting to make the space flow better and create a more cohesive look. Also, accessorizing the space to make it warm and inviting.

Pat, impressive statistics.  I think any opportunity to represent the property to prospecitve buyers is worth while - especially in today's market.

It is almost a no brainer in this market to have the unfair advantage of a professional stager on your side.

Every home needs staging to some degree as part of the marketing plan!  Why some agents and sellers choose to lower their asking price without considering staging the home is beyond me!

The numbers look pretty good from where i'm sitting. I've never used a stager's services but i  may have to look into it.
