Fort Worth Hulen Area Women - Discover Shelton's Salon and Day Spa

About eight years ago... I had one of the world's absolute worst "bad hair days." I was just beside myself. I felt my life was no longer worth living. I wanted to run and hide. I obviously needed a new "do."

Luckily... that afternoon I was driving down Hulen Street... after visiting the Border's Books at the corner of Hulen and I-30. As I was driving down Hulen Street... I just happened to notice a store-front sign I had never seen before. It was... Shelton's Salon and Day Spa.

Now... I had never been a "spa" kind of girl. BUT... I was paranoid about having my hair look as great as it could. That... and my bad hair day... prompted me to do a quick U-turn... and pull into the parking lot. My curiosity was aroused.

When I walked inside... of course I was more than a tad "timid." Hair is a big thing for me... and I didn't quite know what to expect.

Luckily... that was the day I met Carol Eller. Carol is one of the "Designers" at Shelton's... and wow... is she great.

I first went to the front counter... talked with the Salon Manager... explained my needs and concerns... and asked her to recommend one of her best stylists for me. And yes... she immediately took me over to meet Carol.

Since that fateful day... I have been a fan of Carol... actually more of a fanatic. Describing Carol as an artist with the scissors, the color concoctions... and the perm rods... is nothing of an overstatement. She is That Good !

If you are ever in the Hulen area... and need someone to tend to your hair and beauty needs you can trust... Shelton's is the place... and Carol Eller is the woman who makes it happen.

Karen Anne - now that's a recommendation! I am lucky in that my brother does my hair. I never have to worry about how it will look or if I need something new or a change of some sort. I simply sit and read without even looking in the mirror til he is finished. I am his walking talking advertising and send him new clients almost daily. What a stress reliever to know someone is looking after us!

Susan: Who are you trying to kid, my dear. As pretty as you are... you'd look great even if you were bald. LOL.

Seriously... yes, this is a great stress reliever... knowing that you have someone so good that you can depend on. How cool !

Karen-I really like the shopping center there at Hulen and I-30. It used to be a convenient stop for me when I was in the Fort Worth area. My need for hair care services is limitted, but I loved the Borders and Central Market in that area.

Hi Karen Anne - Isn't it funny how desperation can lead us to do something out of the ordinary? Now I think that was a good hair day. And I do believe I see a spelling error in your post for the very first time. Tsk, tsk lol. Way to go dudette. You are human like the rest of us. Oh dear and I held you on such a high pedestal. Or is it pedastel?

Karen to us ladies it is so important to have a good hairdresser; for years that was an issue for me. I am sure Carol will be delighted with this post.

You know Karen, one of the first questions I'm asked after a new client as moved in is "can you recommend a hair salon"? It's important to us gals right? :-)

Hi Karen, The next time I am in your part of the country, I am going going to look this hair salon up. I am always on the look out for a good hair dresser... so much of the time I just "snip snip" myself and then sometimes i sure do regret it. When i find one that I trust, I am on their doorstep until they move or something happens. Shelton's, I can't wait 'till I'm in your neck of the woods.

Wayne: I am sure if you stopped in at Sheltons... they'd find something to do with you... LOL. How 'bout a nice pedicure, or maybe a back massage? I bet you'd love it.

Jenny: Yes... desperation, to change a phrase, is the "mother" of invention. Or at least, it can be. And then there was the time when I visited Portland for five weeks, needed my "roots" done while I was there, and came home with hair tinged with a slight case of "purple." Wow, was that fun for my hairdresser to get rid of. Spelling error. Ummm... I believe it was more of a "typing aberration." I was also very tired, and racing to get it done by midnight. Some nights a girl just can't win. :(

And... I do believe it is "pedestal." LOL.

Jennifer: I told her about the post this past Thursday, and she smile ear-to-ear. I so enjoy making people I care about... smile. Fun stuff ! I have taken several friends over to have Carol work her magic on them, and have referred several out-of-town relo's to her. They, too, were delighted.

Colleen: Oh yes... first things first ! "Gee, Karen... the house is great, but now that we're all moved in... where can I get my hair done ?" LOL. At least we know our priorities. :)

Judi: You live not too far away. If you are ever in town... give me a call. I'll take you over and introduce you to Miss Carol. You will really like her. Actually, I had her cut my hair just today. She does such a great job.

We work so hard in this crazy business... we really need to take at least a little time to pamper ourselves. Sure, is costs money, but the emotional boost just sets up our self-confidence, and ends up bringing in much more money that it costs us for the hair and other services. Well worth it ! Debe: No, Ma'am. No more bad hair days. By the way... is that little drawing above... supposed to be you, or me ? LOL. Yes, I have had bad hair days in the past... but my hair has never turned green. Also... never have had that much facial hair, either. I hope you have avoided that, too. Bad hair days are one thing, but that much facial hair can just RUIN a girl's day... doncha think ?

Hi Karen ~ Your opening paragraph slayed me! That is the perfect description of the bad hair day torments (or bad hair weeks for me sometimes - I'm still stuck on my hairdresser who's 80 miles away and I can't always get away). It's almost a miracle - to stumble upon Shelton's Salon and Day Spa and be rescued. Hallelujah!

Elizabeth: You are just so funny, too. Ever since I first "met" you online... and seen your picture... I have admired... no, "lusted" over your hair. It looks so cool in the picture. It looks nice and curly, and covers and/or frames your face to nicely. I have those "widow's peaks" in each corner of my forehead, and it's up to Carol to make sure there's enough hair there to cover them.

I visited her again yesterday. Hair-cut time. Actually, I drive her a little nutz, I am sure. Hey Carol, just kinda sorta "shape it" to take off the split ends, but even though you're cutting it, please don't shorten it ! LOL. She puts up with me. What more, besides a great hair cut, could a girl want ?

Of course... the women with the straight hair want theirs curly, and the women with the curly hair wish it were straight. That is what keeps hairdressers in business... :) Have a great Sunday !

Funny thing here... I had just finished reading another comment on your "clearing out" post... about you and the consignment shops, and Ebay and all... and then went to my email to see if there was anything, and there you were ! Scary, huh ?

I'm enjoying the posts here these days. I've often worked with out of town buyers who've chosen me because they feel I can help them not only with the purchase but with all the important things afterwards too, ie. hair salons, wine bars, coffee shops, fine dining, spas . . . everything that is important :0)

With some clients, finding and buying the house is the easy part. Making sure they can enjoy their life in the new home is more tricky!

Fortunately for me I have found somebody who can give me a no fuss cut. As long as I keep it long, I don't have too much trouble with the curls, which is good because between work and the kids, I'm no longer into fussy hair.

Karen - that is too funny!! Years ago I figured out that my temples had to be covered so part of my appointment patter every time is to tell my hairdresser to mind the temples - the hair has to be longer there. And if I think she's getting off track I whip out my business card as an example.

Thanks for reminding me that I need a day at the spa. OK, maybe not a whole day but at least a facial and massage.

And you're right about curly-haired women wanting straight hair and vice versa. I finally gave up straightening my hair and chopped it all off. Now it's a mass of little ringlets.
