The Daily Life of a Mortgage Broker (on Vacation) - Day 3

Today there was improvement in the vacation part of taking a vacation (at least in the part that nothing else can really go wrong... only improvements).

The repairs for the furnace started early (and ran a little late into the afternoon).  While all that was going on, we started to clean the house that we are really supposed to be vacationing at.  Tricia started to tackle the kitchen while I took the task of cleaning the bathrooms and vaccuuming the floors.

I have never seen bathrooms more disgusting than the ones I had to clean.  There were iron and rust stains, mildew, and who knows what caked on the toilets after 2-3 years.  The kitchen showed that the local wildlife had taken up residences within the home.  But after a couple hours of scrubbing and cleaning, the house was finally worth living in.

After the cleaing, we needed to go in town to pick up a child gate to keep our little one from climbing up and down the stairs.  Everyone told us that the best place to go was the hardware store over in Great Bend.  So, off we go.  Upon entering the store, we were approached by the shop owner.  He directed us right over to our goal.  One problem... want to guess?  $30 for a gate that would normally cost us $10-15 back home.  We decided that plywood would work just as good on keeping her from venturing.

When we got back home, I decided to take on the task of mowing.  Oh, we had to pick up a new battery at the John Deere dealership when we were in town... and gas.  (Side track: Across from the gas station is a real estate company with a sign out front advertising "45 Acres with house, barn and timber for $245,000."  We were just amazed because something like that back in Florida does not exist and if it did chances are it is wetlands.)

Mowing can be quite relaxing and fun when done properly... fast and irratic.  After finsihing our yard, I decided to the neighbors house and the house on the other side.  By the time I finished, it was definitely time to call it a day.

I can't wait for tomorrow now that all the chores are done and out of the way.

*** A lot less work took place today.  Only a couple of calls and emails.  I am sure that it is only because of the weekend.  Let's see what Monday brings.

Now for the pictures:

Jason.... and this is a vacation so far?   lol  Sounds like you are hired help.  Hey.... maybe next time just pay for someone to go out to the property 2 days earlier to do the cleaning.

In any case, the surrounding area looks very pleasant and relaxing. At least in regards to the pictures.

Jeff,

We tried to get in touch with the guy that normally takes care of setting the house up for about 1 month in advance to coming up.  He never returned our calls and obviously never took care it.  Having a great time now... check out day 4 for more pictures of the trip.
