Content is king...but use the right kind of content.

How is the traffic to your website?

If you are like most site owners, including me, you probably want more visitors.

When we want to enhance the flavor of food we add spice...C-SPICE can do the same for your website.

C-SPICE stands for web Content that falls into one or more of the following categories: spices

  • Suggestions and advice
  • Products and services
  • Instruction and education
  • Community and socializing
  • Entertainment and relaxation

Content

In the world of online communication...whether website, blog  or social media ...content is king.

Search engines help visitors find your site.

Good content keeps visitors on your site...brings them back...and encourages them to recommend your site to others.

If you have not yet downloaded your free copy of Make Your Content Pre-sell,  do it now.

This is the only book you really need to prepare great content for your site.

I recently reviewed it again: after preparing more than 100 pages of content for my website,  I still found lots of new and useful information.

Suggestions and Advice

This is the kind of content that is on my site and probably yours as well.

Your site might feature suggestions about preparing a home for sale... or advice about what to include and what to exclude in mortgage applications.

Obviously the better the suggestions and advice the more your visitors will like your site...and contact you.

Products and Services

e-commerceE-commerce sites like eBay and Amazon or online stores offer goods and services...and attract visitors who are people who are looking to buy.

Although it is unlikely that a real estate agent's site will offer consumer products and services, the sites of home inspectors, home stagers, loan officers and so on will...and should...have an e-commerce component.

Instruction and Education

Once again, my own site offers this category of content.

For example, one of the most popular pages... personal marketing plans  ...offers instruction and education.

Similarly, your site might educate prospects about the process of buying...selling...inspecting... decorating....or financing a home.

Community and Socializing

ActiveRain is a perfect example of a site about community and socializing.

It would also serve the primary purpose of a community website

Entertainment and Relaxation

These are the fun sites...the places where we go to enjoy or download music and videos. fun

Regardless of how great your sense of humor is, it's probably not a good idea to add a significant entertainment component to your site.

Not every one sees humor the same way. If you feel you must have an entertainment-based site, by all means develop one...but keep it separate from your real estate site.

Just like when using spice in cooking...too little C-SPICE will hardly make a difference.

It however it unlikely that you can use to too much...so go ahead and C-SPICE your website.

Hi Larry ~ Sometimes I find myself devoting so much energy and thought to what-on-earth-am-I-going-to-write-about-today that I lose track of the overall content and structure of my blog.  This is a great post that will keep me focused and help me to make sure that I'm covering my bases. Thanks!

Hi-I am adding an education part to my brokerage in the next month. I put an education button on to my web site. I am very excited about the opportunity.
