This is truly a video worth watching, it is very graphic but this message serves the true picture of driving while texting and its consequences.
I do want to had this experience that I witnessed just yesterday, which makes this post so relevant for texting or drunk driving.
Just yesterday, my husband and I was traveling I-4 westbound to Tampa when we noticed a truck swerving in the far left lane to the middle lane and back. No one tried to pass and some cars from behind really came on fast. I'm not sure whether the driver was texting or was drunk. To make this story short, I called 911 and told what I witnessed - thank god after the next exit a highway patrol car was waiting for the driver who then pulled the driver over right after the trooper drove got him with his flashing lights - Lives were saved indeed!
Plain and simple, just don’t do it. In California it’s illegal and has been since January 1, 2009.
Illegal, yet every single day I see numerous drivers willingly breaking the law. Yesterday it was a middle aged woman who had both arms thru the steering wheel, blackberry against the speedo, on the freeway!
The following video is part of an half hour long program being shown to new drivers in the U.K. It's graphic in nature and worth every single moment of it's 4 minutes and 15 seconds.
It’s a professionally made short movie using actors but that doesn’t diminish the message. If I had my way I’d make every teen driver and their texting parents watch this before they signed that contract for their new smartphone!

OMG- you were not joking this is incredibly graphic, but a lot of people are very careless when texting while driving.
It was made illegal in the state of TN recently as well, but it is just so hard to enforce. All it takes is just a few seconds of your concentration to be lost and this you very well happen.
My kids are 5 and 7, I will be a total wreck when they start driving.
I know two different people whose car was rammed while they were waiting at a stoplight by someone texting on their phone. One of them has serious back injuries and his doctor says he'll NEVER be free from pain for the rest of his life.
Graphic, but on point. This topic has been getting more mention in the media lately with studies showing that texting while driving is more dangerous than drunk driving. Very scary when you think about what people are doing in the cars around us.
I really appreciate your comments. We need to get the word out and the best way to get this message/video out is for you to go back to Mike Mueller's original blog and reblog it.
Sandy - It was totally shocking to me when I saw this video. I just saw in the news teens driving on a closed course while texting, so they can see what is really happening, though I think those organizers also should have them watch this video. The effect is tremendous and hopefully life saving.
Hi Petra, this should really be an eye opener to everyone! As to provisions to prevent this behavior, technically they are already in place as in Florida and maybe other States as well, "anything that interferes with driving" (which texting clearly does) is against the rules. I really don't understand why it's enforced especially when the effects are similar to drunk driving!
