I was not aware of this stamp! Where have I been hiding? Went to borrow a couple of stamps from a fellow agent and she explained what this stamp was. Wish I had known and stocked up on some the last time the rates were hiked.

In these tough times it is always neat to find another way to save some money. All we need now is another rate hike by the post office!!

Forever Stamp Fact Sheet

  • The Forever Stamp first went on sale in April 2007. Since then, more than 6 billion Forever Stamps have been sold.
  • As the name suggests, Forever Stamps can be used to mail a one-ounce letter regardless of when the stamps are purchased or used and no matter how prices may change in the future.
  • Forever Stamps are always sold at the same price as a regular First-Class Mail stamp. Forever Stamps are currently being sold for 41 cents and will be sold for 42 cents starting May 12, 2008.
  • The Postal Service developed the Forever Stamp for consumers to ease the transition during price changes. There is only one Forever Stamp - it features an image of the Liberty Bell.
  • Forever Stamps are available for purchase at post offices nationwide, online at usps.com, by phone at 1-800-STAMP-24, and from Automated Postal Centers and ATMs. They are sold in booklets of 20 and sheetlets of 18.
  • Customers can use Forever Stamps for international mail, but since all international prices are higher than domestic prices, customers will need to attach additional postage. The value of the Forever Stamp is the domestic First-Class Mail letter price in effect on the day of use.
  • For media use only, an image of the Forever Stamp is available for download at: http://www.usps.com/communications/newsroom/2007stamps/forever/welcome.htm

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world's mail.

For someone that sends out a lot of letters. This is a great idea. I wish that they offered something like this on postcards and parcel packages

Definitely could save a lot of money after a price hike. I know that the screen capture I used is old, but it was the best explanation of the program that I could find.

I bought a bunch of them before the last price increase.  I just smile when I stick one on an envelope :-)

Every penny counts! This may be an investment, buy now and after a few more hikes we could sell and make a small profit. LOL :))

Cindy - Does make you look like the smart one!

Valorie - LOL  when I googled it, there were actually some posts about doing just that!

at 44¢ it is still a real bargain to mail a letter ... and with scanners & eMail to send all work related documents ... and being able to PAY most of our bills on line ... and sending letters & pictures via eMail to our friends and family ... it's all good!

This is a nice little item.  I like to send some to my clients at various times during the year, and especially when postal rates go up.

I always ask for these stamps, partly because of the price and partly because I like the shape so much better than bigger stamps that are harder to peel off the backing. Glad you found something to make your day! Obviously, this is a good post because it looks like quite a few folks learned something. That's what I love best about Active Rain...I never go away whithout havinglearned something (usually SEVERAL somethings).

Well, yes, I am wondering where you have been hiding for the last couple of years. Actually, for those who are not stamp collectors or who don't do a lot of mailing, I'm not surprised.
