How to Thrive Not Just Survive In Today's Market

By
Home Stager with Fresh Perspectives - www.InsideNashvilleHomes.com

After Fresh Perspectives stages a property we use popular Social Media sites to promote what we do. It is a great way to get the word out about the property for sale along with the added benefits it provides us of additional company exposure. Our goal as a company has always been to partner with our clients (Realtors and/or homeowners) to drive traffic to the property. It doesn’t matter how beautiful a listing is if no one knows about it. This is also a fantastic way to set ourselves apart from our competition. I don’t know any other stager in our area who uses this religiously. We on the other hand, do.

The power of Social Media is fascinating. It has completely revolutionized the way we do business. It has enabled us to create relationships with people across the world. ActiveRain is a perfect example of that. Not only have I had the pleasure of meeting staging industry leaders in person, but I have also forged online relationships with others in my field from across the country. It has given me the ability to hone my craft, improve my business and has blessed me with many new clients. Just last month a homebuyer contacted me regarding a property she was interested in looking at. I had sent out a “tweet” on Twitter about it. How excited do you think the Realtor was when I connected the two of them?

If you are not using sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube (to name just a few) not only will your business not thrive it will soon die. This is how Generation Y communicates. We have to speak their language in order to gain their business.

Being on the forefront of this form of communication will set you apart from the average Realtor of today. Having just a website today is no longer enough in order to survive. Posting your listings on the social media sites are where today’s buyers are going to find them. Today’s sellers are also expecting you to use this medium to advertise their property. Word travels fast. Shouldn’t you and your listings be what the buzz is all about?

Below is a video on YouTube with some amazing facts. It is about 4.5 minutes long, but definitely worth every second you spend watching it.

So true ------ all my younger friends are up on it.  I just wish Realtors would realize that 89% of folk check the net first and the pictures had better be the best they can be----- After seeing Julie and Julia ---- it really impacts the power of the blog!

Thanks for this post, Anthea. We send an announcement to our e-newsletter list with a link to a real estate show for every home we stage, but we haven't branched out to social media yet. With your encouragement, we will now. Where do you post your announcements?

I was just chatting about this yesterday.  To thrive in Home Staging (and I guess any business) you have to be internet savvy -- it is like haveing two jobs -- staging and SEO management.

Lee and Carol - I totally agree. Kinda scary isn't it? Marilynn- I think Realtors do, not all of them understand how to take great shots or can't afford a professional photographer to take them for them. Laurie - My comapny has a page on Facebook, I post on my personal website and also am on Twitter. Jump in - it's a bunch of fun! Sharon - so true! Karen - No kidding. There is so much to learn and put into action.

As mentioned, it is a little unerving but very interesting!  Just a reminder that I need to kick things up a notch.  I want to show my husband because he doesn't understand why I am on the computer as much as I am.

Leanne - I can totally relate. :) Cathy - The video is pretty interesting isn't it? Really puts things into perspective. Fred - Glad I could help! Would you mind letting me know the response you get at your business meeting? I'm very curious. Wanda - That is awesome! You are way ahead of your competition. Kim - It is super easy. When you go to post make sure you are on the html side. Copy the language for your widget and paste it onto your blog post. If you need more help there are lots of posts out in the Rain explaining how to do it. Check out Brad Andersohn. He is a guru. Virginia - I know exactly what you mean. I need someone on staff dedicated to social media.

Anthea- I loved the video and hope you don't mind if I share it on my e-newsletter. It sounds like you've added a value added service byposting the homes you stage to various social media.  I love the social media and the new way of marketing (much more cost effective) but at the same time I feel swamped trying to keep up with everything.  I DO want to incorporate YouTube next!

Thanks for sharing this with us.
