Burroughs Park - Tomball TX
Burroughs Park located in Northwest Harris County just outside of Tomball is located on Hufsmith between Kuykendahl and FM 2978. This 320-acre park maintained by Precinct 4 has something for everyone. The hours of operation are from 7:00 in the morning until dark. As you drive in to the park you will notice the sports fields. The day I was there a soccer tournament and baseball tournament were going on. I drove back to the fishing lake to begin with and by the time I came back the baseball tournament was over so I only have pictures of the soccer tournament.
Information on cancellations or changes in the game schedules are directed to the individual associations. This is not something Precinct 4 takes care of any questions on that you need to contact the particular sports association directly.
As you continue on through the park you will get to the seven-acre fishing lake. This is not a catch and release lake you get to keep what you catch. The exception is large mouth bass. You may catch 3 trout but they must be at least 12" in length. The fishing must be good because the day I was there the lake was packed with fishermen. There is a sign that gives the park rules and no swimming or wading is allowed.
The park has numerous picnic tables and barbeque grills. They are available on a first come, first serve basis. There is even an observation deck. At the north end of the park you will find a pavilion which will seat over 250 people. The Harris county engineers that designed this received an award from the Texas Forest Association for Excellence in Wood Design. To reserve the pavilion you need to call the Precinct 4 Parks Reservations department at 281-353-4196. You will need to call between the hours of 7:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday to make your reservation.
You won't want to forget the nature trails. With over 8 miles of nature trails it is an ideal place to walk your dog.

Wow, very nice layout and excellent post on Burroughs Park. The lake looks very nice. Can you go swimming in the lake or is it for fishing only?
