If you leave a comment, Jim will visit your blog and comment. What do the following all have in common:

  • urine
  • feces
  • vomit
  • pet odors
  • rotting garbage
  • sweat
  • skunk

Answer:

  • I'm pretty sure we can all agree that they, uh, stink.

Recently I received an email from my mom -- I get several from her each week -- about an odor product called SCOE 10X. She swears by it, and she doesn't swear, so it must be good.

In looking it up on the Internet, it does seem to be getting rave reviews. If anyone tries it, let us cat and dog people know how it works.

Hi Jim - This sounds great. We have had a problem with this a couple of times when one of our kitties got very old and had a hard time getting outside or to the cat box now and then.  Luckily, as a general rule our cats are fastidious about going only where they are supposed to go.  I also occasionally get a listing that doesn't smell very nice, either from pets or smoking or whatever.  This could come in handy there!

Jim, if you get any response, give us an update, please!  I have heard but haven't tried it yet that if you have a vacant house with these types of odors that you can lay a bag of charcoal down and cut an X in the side (after laying the bag down flat) and let it sit for a couple of days that it does a remarkable job, we just haven't had any vacant listings to try it on.

There is also a product available from Self Chem that is called Rat-Sorb and it works miracles on bad smells. A tiny bottle will last forever and is only $4. Good luck!

Jim, I haven't heard of that. I use Simple Solution.  Pour it on any organic stain and the enzymes eat the offender, stain and odor gone for good. But, I'd hate to see what the backside of my carpets look like :-)

Thanks for the tip.  It sounds like the kind of stuff to have around.  You just never know when you might need it.

By the way, every time I comment on your posts I mean to tell you that I enjoy the pictures of your kitty.  Everyone should have at least one kitty in the house.

Hey, Robert - Well you and Nu Nu can always come in November for the NAR Convention!

Hey, Susan - My mom and her boyfriend had two cats up until a couple of months ago when they finally had to tell one of them goodbye. The other one has a severe case of arthritis, so it can't jump up on the bed anymore, nor can it easily get into the litter box or even squat to poop, so sometimes he just does what he needs to do wherever he is. I think it's time to say goodbye to him, too. They have had him for 17 years and there are lots of cats at the animal shelter that need a forever home.

Hey, Tony & Darcy - I haven't heard about charcoal, but baking powder is supposed to work. However, it only absorbs the odor; it doesn't solve the problem. Kind of like using a band aid when you need surgery.

Hey, Andrea - We expect a product review!

Hey, Jim - I think moms know that, so you don't have to go giving credence to it - LOL.

Hey, Xinh - I told mom that I did a blog about it. She thinks my blogging is funny.

Hey, Betina - I'll put that one in my list, too.

Hey, Terry - I think I've heard about Simple Solution, but I don't have it in my list. I do now. You can't have too many options.

Hey, Irene - I'm not sure I could take two kitties. This one is a house full.

I wanted to add that I haven't heard of that product, but I have used Zero Odor for all of those smells (and then some) and it's worked wonderfully every time.
