Atlanta's midtown area brings great variety in housing. There are many smaller bungalow style homes that were built in the 30's and have had renovations that have modernized them. The charm just oozes through, even with the trendy modernizations that occurred over time. One of the most difficult parts in staging these homes is the lack of today's traditional foyers. The homes for this era so typically found in midtown have the front door open into what was considered the Parlor. Karen you are so right about these style homes typically having no foyer, but I can see you've conquered this problem with your furniture placement perfectly! They sure do have that special charm, I gotta agree with you there.

Karen, I've never spent any time in the south, (other than one day in Miama pre-cruise departure) and your photos and posts have made me want to explore Atlanta. What time of year do you recommend? Love your examples and proof of your many talents!

Hey Ginger! Come on my friend! I'll take you around and we will have a blast! Lot's to see. Any time's good here, but November through February are the colder yuckier temps (40's - 50's) July and August are a little hot and humid.

I am flattered that I am capable of creating a presentation that draws tourism! I may have to add that to my portfolio! :-)

Karen ~ Your staging to highlight the fireplaces in your examples is so warm and inviting. What a great idea to stage them for charming conversation areas. Nicely done!

I like the idea of using chairs instead of sofas in certain rooms. Very pretty!

Love these parlor room, Karen. I've really been enjoying your photo tour of Atlanta. I haven't been there for over 20 years and you're making think I might need to schedule a trip south sometime soon, maybe after the temps start to drop here.

Hi Maureen! Thx so much, I actually love the parlors. I never lived in a home with one, but I guess my mother must have because from the time I was 13 until I was 16, I was allowed to only have "Parlor Dates" with boys. Which meant they could come to our home only for a date. Fortunately we didn't have a parlor so I didn't have to just sit in a chair fireside! We had a pool table, and I had to work hard not to win! :-)
