...on two new machines with a little help from a young feller named Chris.

So far, so good.  Very good.

I skipped over Vista, and came into Windows 7 RC straight from XP home and Pro.  Actually, I think I have never even sat at a Vista machine!

Gotta say, I'm loving it.  I was already running Internet Explorer 8 with no issues, so that part of the change was easy.

I suppose it is fast for me because it is on a new machine with almost nothing on the hard drive, but even at that, speed was not the only consideration in the change.  I was poking along OK.  It was more of a matter of seeing that W7 was coming, that my current OS was going to go away.

And I wanted some new toys.  Got 'em!

Congrats on your new toy-I hope it continues to provide a good tool for you and worth the money you spent.

Nice to hear I skipped Vista also and my XP machines are working fine. I'll have to look into the new operating system.

Terry Bonnie,

You can check your machine's ability to run Windows 7 with the Windows 7 Advisor. It will assess your hardware and indicate weak components.  My XP machine has a Promise RAID Controller that will not handle W7.  I guess I will need to eliminate RAID and reassess.

Robert,

That seems to justify my decision to pass up Vista.  Thanks.
