Orchids at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens

Last weekend my husband and I went to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens which is just south of Charlotte.  This was just about the last of the summer color so Crepe Myrtles were the highlight of the outdoor gardens.  However, when I entered the orchid gardens I was overwhelmed with the way the plants were naturally growing literally in the air!  What a treat!

I definitely have to get down that way and check this out!  We went to the NC Zoo a while back and their greenhouse/aviary was just amazing.  OK - now to put this on my list of 'have to get there' places ...

Diane

One could get lost in a botanical garden. We have some here that you set out to see for an hour and the afternoon comes around and there are more rooms to see yet.

Very pretty Diane, and the picture reminds me of Florida too because of the moss!

And they are so colorful!  Not just pink - love the interplay with the moss also.

I do love to look at the orchids but I'm afraid The would be dead in days under my care.

Charlie:  I'm so glad. Send me a photo when you are done!

Amanda:  Thank you!

Carole:  Just so you know, this wasn't the best time of year for the gardens.  I would definitely wait until spring or during their bulbs!

Tom:  I agree, they are such a wonderful and peaceful escape!

Leolinda:  Yes, they are!

Sara:  Thank you!

janeAnne:  I love how they are suspended in the air!

Susie: Not up to your quality but I tried!

Alexandra: Yes, the moss and variety of colors are incredible!

Terry:  They need lots of light and just the right temperatures.  I was able to grown them in a bathroom window in CA but haven't tried here!
