Congress is now on break but most members of the house and Senate use some of the August recess to meet with constituents in their home districts.

NAR and the National Accostion of Home Builders are spending the month mounting a grass roots lobbying campaign.

Senator Chris Dodd, D-Conn chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, is co-sponsoring a bill with Georgia Republican Johnny Iaskason that would raise the credit to a maximum of $15,000

THIS WEEK TAKE TO TIME TO CALL/ EMAIL/ WRITE YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATORS AND ENCOURAGE YOUR FELLOW REALTOR TO DO THE SAME!!!!

I think raising the tax credit is a very STUPID thing to do.  I wouldn't support it at all.

I wouldn't support it either. It is overkill. When the gov't "gives" money, it is not their money. It is ours. There will be a huge price to pay for this lunacy. With interest.

Every housing sale generates about $60,000 of economic activity. That generates about $12,000 of tax revenue.

Do the math.

I doubt that but even if it were true that is relevant to the 15K v 8K how?

National studies have shown that every home sale generates $60,000 of ecomonic activity. The president of Col well banker has given studies that have shown that it may be even higher.

So, it shoud gernate $12,000 of tax revenue . That more than pays for the $8,000 credit, and pays for most of the $15,000.

Could you provide one link to a study by an independant, non prejudiced study that comes even close to the claims you are making here. I would really like to see that.
