Breaking News in Ann Arbor & Saline

A2BreakingNews.com is a new community web site I have started.I heard about the Breaking News Sites from Pat Kitano of Domus Consulting. As soon as I heard of it, I contact Pat. What a great way to get Breaking News out to Ann Arbor and Saline.

Little did I know at the time that Pat, Kevin and the Breaking News sites would be honored at Inman with the Innovator of the Year Award. Inman Innovator Award 2009

A2BreakingNews is 100% community based.

Ann Arbor and Saline people can log on and get updated,with one the spot news surrounding Ann Arbor, Saline and Washtenaw County.

If you are on Twitter you can follow and add your twitter feed. The Twitter account is A2BreakingNews.

There are categories for different things, art, food, events, Wolverines, Saline, Ann Arbor, shopping, sporting events, jobs, classifieds, real estate.

When you post just use what is known in Twitter as a hash tag. It looks like this #. So if you are posting a tweet or want to add a feed just use the # in front of the category you want it posted in.

A2Breaking News will be a spot you can find all the current news on.

Here is an example for a restaurant owner:

You are a restaurant and want to post the lunch or dinner special, just use #A2BNfood. Then it will post right in the food category.

Other categories to use the # hash tag in are:

News: #a2bnnews
Saline: #a2bnsaline
Events: #a2bnevents
Shopping: #a2bnshop
Foodie: #a2bnfood
Sports: #a2bnsports
Wolverines: #wolverines
Jobs: #a2bnjobs

Breaking News sites are all about giving hyperlocal content to your community via Twitter. (140 characters remember) Patrick has written many posts on it on his Activerain Blog, so go subscribe and read more about it. I know they have area's left.

Hi Missy, Thanks for sharing this and I really appreciate the links. I will follow this up and take advantage of these great links from PAT. BTW, did you mention that you shifted over to the MAC. I added a second monitor and love all the cool things you do with 2 screens and no settings required. Simply slide something over and open a new application in the original one. Very cool and both work. Great for doing MLS searches or e-mail and the Internet open and working at the same time.
