Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, in that warm and easy time known as summer, lies the ideal opportunity for a party. If you're planning one, you'll probably want to take advantage of the weather and hold your event outdoors. Good idea! Because, whether it's formal or fun, there's simply no occasion that can't be made more festive by taking it outside.
Whatever kind of party you're having, your menu will quite likely involve the grill. I have included some tips on hosting a successful outdoor party. I hope that this information will help you relax and enjoy your party as much as your guests will.
- Never underestimate the value of shade! Place food and beverages under an awning or tree to give your guests a good reason to take a break from the sun.
- Serve plenty of water since alcoholic and caffeinated beverages can dehydrate guests quickly in the heat.
- Have insect repellent, sunscreen, and the proper treatment for bee stings and bug bites on hand, it may save your party!
- Light up the party area with clear miniature lights. Hang them from trees, arrange them on the buffet table, and even lay them on the ground in flower beds. Turn them on before it gets dark for a subtle transition from sunlight to dusk.
- Discard food if its been sitting out longer than an hour and a half.
- Don't use paper napkins if its windy, use a roll of paper towels instead.
- Have a contingency plan just in case!
- Keep it simple! The party should be for you too!
