Motivational Monday ~ Get Out of the Recession Rut

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Destiny Real Estate Cambridge, MA

I'm not a fan of billboards or of the big MS for that matter, but I love this message on a Cambridge billboard I spotted this morning.

Recession Billboard

This recesssion, more than many I think, has been affected by how we feel - scared, cautious, conservative. This was a great reminder to me that everything and anything is possible no matter what the headlines are telling us.

This is one of thought provocing messages that we all need to think about these days.  Wonder who paid for that wonderful reminder?

Hi Bob ~ No kidding huh?! It's a Clear Channel billboard - they own too many radio stations and who knows what else - I think they do ones like these as a "public service" of sorts when they have an opening. I really did do a double take when I saw it - it's just the kind of nudge I really like.

Plenty of American dreams were started during recessions... depressions, even. Thanks for sharing Elizabeth.

Elizabeth:  What a difference it would have made if Bill Gates decided not to move forward with his idea because the economy was "too negative ?"

Liz - I LOVE THIS!!!!!  There is always opportunity to be found in recessions - you just have to have a paradigm shift - that's all!

Hi Karen ~ Isn't that the truth?! Really shows the importance of not getting caught up in the doom and gloom.  Forge onward!

Hi Leesa ~ It's not often that a billboard puts a smile on my face but this one did as soon as I spotted it. I love the message.

Great photo Liz!  Thanks for capturing it and sharing it with us.
In a way this recession can be an eye opener for us all - an opportunity to reflect on what is truly important in our lives' and a time to take those tiny steps towards a dream we may have been surpressing for a long time.  Gloria

Hi Tom ~ They sure are - if we get out of our own way.

Hi Jeff ~ Nowadays I almost always have the camera.  And for once I was early for an appointment so had time to circle the block.

Hi Sally ~ And the courage to go where others won't - or think they can't I guess.

Hi Pat ~ It really made my morning. Now I'm off to read Lou's blog.

Hi Doug and Gloria ~ Not to minimize anyone's hardships but I do think that there can be positive change resulting - whether it's considering a new career, economizing where before we splurged, or focusing on something other than "things".

Hi Denise ~ This business (not to mention life in general!) is so often a rollercoaster that a little zing like this can be just what's called for some days. Here's to a better Tuesday!

Hi John ~ I had never thought about it either.  Funny - what I had thought about over the last year while reading about economic swings of the past was that I never paid much attention to recessions in the past.  From reading about them it seems that I graduated from college during one for example.  But I never noticed.  Nowadays the media tends to obsess on a very few topics (at the expense of many others seemingly too difficult to cover) so once they start blatting about something it's all you hear.  Recession be da*ned - press onward I say!!

It's like asking the question, is the glass half full or is it half empty?  Everything that happens after that depends on how you choose.

Hi Michael ~ Isn't that the truth?! And I think we tend to be of bent or the other as a rule.

Hi Donna ~ My thoughts exactly when I saw it - it was really an eye opener.
