7 Reasons to Join a Business Network Group - PART 6 ~ "FREE EDUCATION !!!!!"

OK so THIS ONE I absolutely love, and again there is a parallel with the same benefit right here at ActiveRain !!!

You see when you belong to a Business Network Group that has members representing different industries, you will start to learn more about their services, and subsequently become more educated and knowledgeable about other products and services available to your clients.

So not only can you refer quality service providers, you can also talk about them, and in many cases be able to determine if a specific service will be valuable to you or a client of yours.

And it goes deeper than just the quick 30 second elevator speech - because each week 2 members give a 10 minute presentation of something a little more in depth about the service or product they provide, and inevitably everyone learns at least one new thing about that industry that they didnt know before.

For example, who knew that there is an option for contractors who install 'paver patios' to lay down a 4 inch layer of concrete first so that over time the pavers dont 'sag' and become uneven over your patio or driveway !

... I learned that last week at our meeting !

And also, I learned from our Wine Consultant in our group that a Medium-Bodied Red Wine like Pinot Noir or a Chianti is a perfect compliment for Teriyaki Chicken or a Smoked Salmon plate ! ... and that a Light White Wine like a Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio, will taste terrific with California Roll Sushi, Veggies and Dip and Mini Quiches !!!!

So with 50 different members in my group, I get the opportunity over time to get a mini education about plumbing, travel tips, the best way to pack things for moving, top dental cleaning products, tax preparation, party planning ideas, furniture and appliance options, and nutritional advice amongst many others -

all for FREE

just from being a part of a Business Network Group !

So Reason #6 for joining a Network Group, is that you become more worldly and educated for free by learning about other industries from fellow members !!!

Sheldon: This was a great series on the many reasons to join a business networking group. I've always thought about joining one myself. Might be part of the 2010 business plan now.

Chris Ann ! - I think you personally would benefit greatly with the personality you have ! You would capture everyone's attention and have them raving about you before long ! Let me know if you have any other questions - as you see I am really passionate about these groups - and have reaped dozens of deals from my group over the years :o)

You got to love those tidbits of information you learned from others in your business network. Thanks for sharing them and feel free to post and share more of the most interesting ones with us here on AR. I am rooting for you and part 7 tomorrow! Your high level of enthusiasm shines through this series of post and it sure looks like you had fun participating in this latest AR challenge! Keep up the great work with both blogging and the great service your provide to your customers! Good news travels quickly and far, even to remote places and small towns like Red Lodge, Montana. :)

I have been a slacker on this series thing.......thought going on vacation would give me time to come up with ideas, but I've done nothing but relax at the beach and the pool during the day and enjoy great restaurants in the evening! Sheldon - the learning one can gain from networking and participating in one or more formal groups can be outstanding...not unlike what we have on AR but on a smaller scale.

Love this series. I plan to make this a priority this fall. I have been working on a higher profile in County Chamber of Commerce and WRC group but the advantages of being the only agent in such a group would be profitable.

Goodness Sheldon, I certainly don't want my pavers to sag, especially at my age;) And you say you have a Wine Consultant in your group??? They could be my very best-est friend.

You certainly have a wealth of information at your fingertips don't you? This intel will make you more valuable in your clients eyes. Another well done for you my NJ friend!!!

Sounds like you belong to BNI (as well as I DO!) I love to hear about others' businesses and how I can figure out a way to send them clients! I don't know why everything has to be a competition for me! I have given out the most referrals x 2 since we chartered in February ;)
