Buying a Home in Dutchess County NY - School Information - Part 6

For parents buying a home in Dutchess County NY school location is an important factor. I have seen buyers like a particular house but decide to move elsewhere because they prefered the school district in another town.

Since schools are so important in the decison making process, when purchasing a home in  Dutchess County it is no wonder many buyers will turn to the agent and ask if one school district is better than another.  I can't tell you if one neighborhood is better than another, likewise I can't tell you that about the schools, both of these senarios could cause some licensing issues.

What your  agent will do is provide you with data so that you are better equipped to make an informed decision.  The State of New York does provide a Report Card for the public schools in Dutchess County and there are also many other sources to get information on the school, here is one that I like - School Data

Hi Jennifer,

We all know that schools can make all the difference in the world when it comes to a home selling or not.

That's something I learned the hard way as a first-time home buyer myself decades ago, buying my first home and assuming (yes not asking and it was never mentioned by the agent back then) the school right down the street  would be ideal for my young family. Later only to learn the dividing line between our district was at the corner, just a few houses away.

There is so much more data today at our fingertips!
