Ever wonder where your old computer,
keyboard and other periphials go when you discard them?
I've watched several documentaries on this subject; it was an eye-opener.
Investigative reporters interviewed, or in some case, "tried to interview",
owners of several recycling plants that dealt in E-waste. They all said the same
thing. The process was done safely and within regulations. American firms
insisted the stuff was being shipped to Canada; Canadian firms insisted the
waste was being shipped to the States.
Everyone was lying through their collective teeth.
The reporters traced several containers, and they
all ended up in the same place.

In some villages in China this is THE industry.
Entire families are engaged in this, including small children.
Ground water is so polluted, you can develop film in it;
it's certainly not potable. Birth defects are way above normal.

This will be the "normal" soon enough.
Now, here's the amazing "rest of the story":
The Canadian and American governments-BOTH;
know where this stuff is going. It's illegal, but hey,
it's not our problem anymore!
Great eye opener, I usually donate used computers to the school, but did recently throw away a box for a satellite receiver. I will never do that again. Thanks for the wake up call.
