Looks like they were having fun, wherever this place is at.

RALPH: OAK BLUFFS is on the island of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. A fabulous resort town that my family and I have been going since the 50's. My photos on my August 9th blogs were taken there. We made a day trip to celebrate my Aunt Hilda's 91st birthday.

KAREN:Oak Bluffs has always been one of my favorite places to relax and enjoy its beauty. I am glad you feel the same way. Happy belated 25th Anniversary. John and I just made our 40th this year. Where do those years go?

CHARLES : Matthew wanted to surprise us with the new do. He had won a rubber ball in the arcade and made it ito a hair cap. It was shocking neon green.

DEBI: Matthew gave us all a great laugh especially his 91 year old great Aunt Hilda.

RENAE: We allhad an amazing fun day on the island from the boat ride to and the retunr trip was so smooth. My Aunt Hilda who we were celebrating her 91st birthday actually did not want to go, she thought the boat ride would be rough and it would be too much trouble. We proved her wrong and we all enjoyed our day together.

DARCY and TONY: We had a great time. wished we could have made it last longer.

GEORGE: We all had a fabulous day together even our furry companions my Buddy and my Neice's Maui. Martha's Vineyard is a wonderful resort vacation place. I love going there each summer for at least a day trip if not longer.

Kathleen Ann: I am so envious. There is NOTHING like Martha's Vineyard here in Fort Worth, or anywhere within a thousand miles or more. I really need to see this area for myself while I still have time.

The closest I ever got... was about a three-day trip to Mystic Seaport and some of the surrounding area... including my girlfriend showing me a place called "Point Judith." Of course, her name was Judith... of course, of course. We also visited UConn... I think it was uConn, where I believe one of the buildings... maybe a dorm... not sure... was named after her father. It was called Tyler Hall.

One thing that surprised my friend Judy during the trip... was how much all of the housing looked like duplicates of what I had shown her in Northeastern Ohio, where I grew up. That does make sense, because on the old colonial maps from the late 1700's... that area of NorthEastern Ohio was referred to as "New Connecticutt." Cool, huh ?

By the way... I just followed your link to Oak Bluffs in comment # 2... and it is just lovely. What a great place. I repeat. I am envious ! Thanks for sharing.

Kathleen - I love Martha's Vineyard. Especially the victorian style homes that line the main street in Oak Bluffs. I was there for the monster shark tournament this summer and took some great photos. I should have posted them by now! Great picture of you and your family. Hope Aunt Hilda had a very happy 91st birthday. - Wow.

KAREN ANNE:When you visited Point Judith, you were in Narragansett, Rhode Island. Point Judith is a part of the town of Narragansett which extends more than a mile from the Rhode Island coast and marks the entrance to Narragansett Bay to the north and Block Island Sound to the south.

When English settlers arrived there were several Indian tribes who were living in the area, predominately the Narragansetts. A popular RI name, even our brewery was called Narragansett Brewery in Providence.

KAREN ANNE: There is most colorful explanation of how POINT JUDITH got its name:

A Nantucket sea captain was lost in the fog off the point. The captain's daughter, whose name was Judith, shouted that she spotted land. The captain, unable to discern anything in the fog, shouted to his daughter to "POINT JUDITH, POINT" lol

You need to come visit the east coast again and take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. If you pass through RI again we shall have to meet.

JUDY: Thanks for stopping by I love that island and enjoy its peacefulness and quaintness of beauty. My Aunt and all nine of us had a fabulous memorable day.
