View of St. GeorgeAccording to a recent report completed by Kiplinger, St. George is #11 in their list of the Top 20 Smart Places to Live in the country!  The survey was completed by readers of Kiplinger's, who were asked to choose the most important factors when considering a place to live.  They chose cost of living and cost of housing.  Quality health care and a low crime rate also rated highly.

In the database developed by the authors, other key criteria used were weather, education, cultural amenities, and transportation.  Also included was economic vitality, and they gave more weight to communities with well-diversified economies they felt are good places to start or expand a business.  Finally, quality of life, as measured by cultural and recreational activities, completed the score.

Based on first-hand investigation by 8 writers for Kiplinger's, here are the figures for St. George:

Population: 110,515

Population growth:  22.3%

Median home price:  $209,400

1-year home price change:  18.5%

Cost of living index:  89

I have an Aunt & Uncle that are thinking about moving from North Dakota to St. George. I'll keep you in mind to refer them to. In fact I'll give them your number.  Last I checked in with them they were getting ready to put their house on the market.

I ran the St. George Marathon a few years ago and had nothing but fond memories of St. George. It was a very beautiful town, and the people were very friendly. I also liked that the airport was conveniently located.
