OREGON STATEHOOD WAGON TRAIN
On Thursday, September 17, The Dalles will be welcoming the Oregon Statehood Wagon Train at the end of this historic 7-county journey across Eastern Oregon.

The wagon train will be encamped 5 days from Sept. 17 through Sept. 20 at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center along the Riverfront Trail, 5000 Discovery Drive. The public is invited to visit the wagon train, talk with the wagon master, pet the horses and learn about pioneer life.

CHUCKWAGON BBQ: The public is invited to a BBQ lunch served by the wagon train's chuckwagon Sunday, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $12 for your grub!

This is an official Oregon150 event.

NATIONAL POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY: The Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 2471 and it's Ladies Auxiliary will  hold a ceremony in observation  of National POW/MIA Recognition Day on Saturday Sept. 19 at the Veterans Memorial at Sorosis Park at the crest of Scenic Drive, starting at 6:30 PM. The Public is invited to remember veterans missing in action or prisoner of war.

Wheels150 Vintage Vehicle Parade 
A collection of horse-drawn wagons, horseback riders, and vintage antique and classic vehicles will parade through downtown The Dalles, ending at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center. Wheels150 will select one vehicle to represent each model year, beginning with horse-drawn wagons from the 19th Century and culminating in modern classics. (Click here for parade application form.) 
The Vintage Vehicle show will be held at the Discovery Center, 5000 Discovery Drive, The Dalles.

Sept. 19

Registration begins 8 a.m.
Run/Walk begins 9 a.m.

Annual HTDD Run/Walk across The Dalles Dam.
Registration starts 8 a.m. at The Dalles Dam Visitor Center, located at Seufert Park on the Oregon shore. This 8k run/walk crosses the Columbia River, atop The Dalles Dam. This event affords a rare opportunity to see the river from a unique vantage point. Take Interstate 84 Exit 87 (The Dalles Dam exit at the Bridge Junction of Highway 197) and proceed east on Bret Clodfelter Way .5 mile east to the Visitor Center.

FAMILY FUN DAY AT FORT DALLES MUSEUM:Demonstrations of pioneer life including spinning, farm animals, blacksmithing. Historic military re-enactors, and tours of Fort Dalles Museum and the Anderson Homestead, Old time music, wagon rides and fun for the whole family. CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH 150 th BIRTHDAY OPEN HOUSE: The United Church of Christ Congregational Church (1859-2009) celebrates their 150th Anniversary with an " Open House", 10:00 - 3:00 on Sat. Sept. 19. View historic stain glass windows, pictorial display by decades of the church, it's members and activities, and other church memorabilia. Located at 111 East Fifth Street, the current church was built in 1936, after fire destroyed the first three buildings.  Wm. Tenney was the chartering minister (1859-1862),  and Thomas Condon (1862-1873) followed him. Karl Vercouteren (1977-2009) is the most recently retired minister. Current minister is Donnamae Grannemann. UCC’s big anniversary day is Aug. 16th at the Old Wasco County Original Court House, where services were first held in 1859.

School District #21 Archive Museum Open House: The School District Museum will be open for visitation from 10 - 2:00 on Saturday, Sept. 19. Located at The Dalles Wahtonka High School west campus, 3601 W. 10th St., side entrance nearest athletic fields. Free Admission. This is a collection of high school memorabilia,  Steelhead annuals from 1911 to present, sports trophies, uniforms, Booster Girl albums, District elementary school class photos,  jr. high-middle school mementoes, and media equipment.  Class reunion groups especially welcome.  Other times open by appointment. ONE-ACT PLAY: A COMEDY MELODRAMA at the Original Wasco County Courthouse (1859)

Built in 1859, the Original Courthouse marks its 150th birthday this year with a 1859-style Frontier Justice mock trial presented by The Theatre Co of The Dalles with a one act play entitled “Justice at the End of the Trail: The Trial of the Desperado Barry Wey.” The play is a comedic “recreation” of a trial for the robbery of the Wheeler Stage Line by Barry Wey. The audience is the jury. Original script written by Tim O'Neill and directed by Lowry Browning. 

The courthouse museum will be open extra hours before and after the mock trial, see videos of historic subjects. The Original Wasco County Courthouse is located at 410 West Second Street (541) 296-4798
