I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. Bucky Badger proudly represents UW.
David Childress r.e. agent from Akron Ohio, a big OSU Buckeye fan waved at me on Facebook the other day... and I started to WAVE back but then thought... I am not a nut... (Buckeye) I am a Badger!
So I looked for a Wisconsin "wave wall."
I recognized Bucky but did not notice the writing on the wall. The wave wall is named for a long used Wisconsin... shall we call it a cheer?? " ____ 'em Bucky" I suppose maybe the phrase is more of a battle cry:
I never had a Tshirt with the Badger "cheer" on it but it's been around a long time. I graduated nearly 30 years ago and it was everywhere when I was a student in Madison. I am not sure when my alma mater a Big Ten school adopted this catchy phrase but as I did the Facebook wave for UW I noticed the name of the wave wall and thought "Oh my goodness, Oh my soul... did I just give the world the finger rather than a wave?"
The wave wall for " ____ 'em Bucky" says:
"Bucky Badger has been the mascot for the University of Wisconsin since 1940. He does not like wolverines or buckeyes. He enjoys feasting on golden gophers and pounding boilermakers. He also likes to brawl with nittany lions and hawkeyes. He thinks the spartans are weak. And the illini and hoosiers are dumb mascots that should be demoted to NCAA D-2."
I am so clueless on Facebook. I looked to see if I had written on the wave wall. Or if I had aborted the mission when I saw THAT word. I thought I had not but I could not find THAT word on my wall.
After reading the featured ActiveRain post about Jeff Corbett's use of THAT word I read Jeff Corbett's post too. Good post.
Then I went back to look at my Facebook page and looking at my FriendFeed ( equally clueless as on Facebook) yesterday, searching for if I had used THAT word by waving.... Yep I gave my Friends on Facebook and FriendFeed the finger. I deleted my wave from the wall.
