I got an e-mail the other day from my Board of REALTORS®. As I began to read the message they referenced one of my blog posts. The immediate thought I had was oh no, did I say something wrong. I am pretty careful about the usual stuff.
- I never mention names, just situations.
- I am careful not to violate any copyright laws.
- I check my facts for accuracy.
After reading only the first sentence or so, my mind began racing with thoughts of what I may have done wrong. If the Board is contacting me about a blog post it must be bad.
To my surprise the message was asking me permission to use one of my recent posts to educate the members.
Are You Really a REALTOR®?
Yesterday the Honolulu Board of Realtors® weekly electronic newsletter included my blog post for all the members to read. That was completely unexpected.
When you post articles on the internet, it can get you noticed.

Congrats - I would be shaking in my boots if I saw an email from the Association. If I get one, perhaps I will open it without fear.
Randy, Kudos to you! Good that your board is noticing blogging! And that it noticed you:)
Well done!
Randy - It's always great to see our efforts pay off.

Gary W. - The internet keeps us all on the radar.
Randy, I was thinking your post was a double blessing ... (1) for writing content that is not only noteworthy, but readily identifiable as a valuable "teaching tool" for others and (2) for having a Board of Realtors who is obviously "plugged in" (for lack of a better phrasing). What a fortuitous combo!
Congrats Randy...Having your pears recognize your work is the best compliment!
Oh boy Randy! Congratulations and I hope you can inspire some other local REALTOR's(r) to blog.
Randy - That is neat- congrats! I always alter the story a bit- change the gender (he instead of she), maybe one town over... careful....
That is very cool, Randy. Plus, the Board may be able to sell some more electronic keyboxes to agents. No ulterior motive there! :)
Cheers,
Robin
Randy, Your board is brilliant to choose your post! We are all proud of you!
Randy, great post! Blogging is a major plus for the Blogger and the community as a whole. I really feel that for the most part we have now replaced print as the sought after media for news.
Randy, way to go. I haven't had any of my blogs used for publishing, but then again writing was never one of my strongpoints in school. Keep it going.
You just proved that blogging gets ...everywhere. :)
Hey Brotha Randy,
Long time...hope all is well...that's great news and yes...I'd probably be bit paranoid also.
That is Awesome Randy ...Keep up the GREAT work!
Good for you Randy! I wouldn't think you would be one to get in trouble :)
Judith S. - I have to say, I was surprised that the Board was reading.
William - Definitely
Evelyn - You never know. I have been preaching the benefits of blogging for a long time.
Wendy R. - I agree completely, I use phrases like them and they instead of he or she also. I do try to keep my details accurate, but will be vague where needed.
Robin R. - I hope it at a minimum gets more agents to use their electronic key.
Margaret - Thank you.
Jim C. - I definitely have gotten more of my industry news from the blogs, than any other source.
John W. - I have had some of mine used in other states. This is the first time it was used to this level locally.
Sally - That it does.
Neal - Aloha Brudda! I am trying to set aside more time to post. It has been a busy year.
Maria W. - Thank you.
David B. - I didn't think so either. It did make me look. LOL
